Statement of the effect, if any, on the wetlands and tidal waters of the town that may result by reason of such proposed operations (use attachments if appropriate): For the purpose of maintaining the property's historical method of protection against erosion and flooding, the project proposes to construct a vinyl bulkhead in place of an existing, Southold Trustees-permitted timber bulkhead(see Grandfather Permit No.4253,issued Oct.28, 1993). There is no viable non-structural means of maintaining and protecting the upland portion of the property in its current location, and without replacement and maintenance of the bulkhead, the subject and adjacent properties would be exposed to severe flooding and erosional damage. Therefore, the project will effectively maintain the historically existing conditions along this bulkheaded canal shoreline without any adverse impact on the adjacent unvegetated wetland area or tidal waters of the Town, but it will provide the ecological benefits associated with replacing a treated timber bulkhead with untreated vinyl sheathing. 617.20 Appendix B Short Environmental Assessment Form Instructions for Completing Part I-Project Information. The applicant or project sponsor is responsible for the completion of Part 1.Responses become part of the application for approval or funding, are subject to public review, and may be subject to further verification.
