Upon receipt of an application for a Pre -Existing Certificate
of Occupancy, I made an inspection of this two-story wood framed
dwelling. I was admitted to building by -Mr. Moore who accompanied
me during this inspection that began at approximately 9:20 A.M.
First floor consists of a kitchen, den, living room, and dining
room. A small enclosed porch protects rear entry to kitchen.
Second floor has three bedrooms and a full bathroom. Heat is
furnished to building from an oil fired warm air furnace located
in cellar of building's cement block foundation with a heat outlet
cut into first floor approximately centered in large opening of
partition dividing living room and dining room. Accessory structure
in rear yard is a wood framed three -car garage constructed on cement
block piers.
The following violations of the Housing Code, Chapter 52,
Town of Southold, New York, were found:
Rear porch - lamp and outlet socket connected to pull chain
ceiling fixture, lamp cord plugged into outlet of socket for
exterior spot light, Article V, Section 52-56 A 1.
Entry - living room, no means of controlling light in room
at point of entry, Article V, Section 52-56 B 2.
Bathroom - floor tile missing at base of tub, Article III,
Section 52-32 D.
Bedroom - northwest, no provisions for artificial light,
Article II, Section 52-23 C 2.
Stairs - first floor to cellar, treads 24" wide, treads
near bottom not level, bottom tread broken, Article II,
Section 52-27 H 31 Article V, Section 52-30 A.
Hot water heater - gas fired, vent pipe not connected to
unit, vent pipe connection at chimney requires sealing,
Article V, Section 52-53 H 3; Article V. Section 52-54 A 1,2.
Water pump - electric motor, connection from switch box,
two unshielded wires, no ground connection, Article V,
Section 52-56 A 1-5.

Heat - second floor rooms unheated, Article V, Section 52-53
A 1 (Amended New York State Building Construction Code,
Section C 504-1).
Accessory garage - north wall where section of building was
removed, exterior wall has openings and requires finished
siding, Article III, Section 52-30 C and 52-31 B.
Fuel oil tank - partially buried, exposed portion of tank
su 7ect to elements, metal coated with rust, copper fuel
lines to building unprotected, Article V, Section 52-59 B 2.
Inspection completed at approximately 9:40 A.M.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in triplicate to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal—(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
S. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non -conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
C. Fees:
