Upon receipt of an application for a Pre -Existing Certificate
of Occupancy, I made an inspection of the buildings at this loca-
tion. I was admitted to premises by Mrs. Mooney who accompanied
me during this inspection that began at approximately 10:00 A.M.
The main dwelling is a two-story wood framed structure
constructed on a poured concrete foundation. First floor contains
a kitchen, living room with alcove, sun parlor, and dining room.
A center hallway provides a front and rear entry and contains stair-
way to second floor. A vestibule on east side provides side entry
to kitchen. Second floor has four bedrooms and a full bathroom.
Attic, accessible from second floor hallway, is used for storage
area. Heat is furnished to all rooms on first and second floors
from an oil fired steam heat furnace located in full cellar.
Accessory structure in rear yard is a wood framed cottage with
attached two -car garage. Living unit contains a bedroom, living
room with kitchen facilities, and a room being used as a study.
A utility room accessible from garage interior contains electric
water pump and gas fired hot water heater for domestic water to
plumbing fixtures in cottage. Heat is furnished to living unit
from an oil fired, free standing space heater located in living
room. (Building also includes inside bathroom.)
The following violations of the Housing Code, Chapter 52,
Code of the Town of Southold, New York, were found:
COTTAGE
Gas cooking range - no shut off valve at unit, Article V,
Secti�ion 52-52 B 2.
Bathroom - inside room, no mechanical means of ventilation,
Article II, Section 52-26 B 4 B.
Utility room - not property vented for heat producing unit
within, Article V, Section 52-53 G 1.2.
Hot water heater - gas fired, not connected to suitable
c imney to remove products of combustion, Article V, Section
52-53 H 3. Gas piping to hot water heater requires shut
off valve at unit, Article V, Section 52-52 B 2.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in triplicate to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal—(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non -conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
