Statement of the effect, if any, on the wetlands and tidal waters of the town that may result by reason of such proposed operations (use attachments if appropriate): For the purpose of maintaining the property's historical method of protection against erosion and flooding, the project proposes to construct a new vinyl bulkhead in place of approximately 1001f existing timber bulkheading,541f of which was permitted pursuant to Southold Trustees Permit No. 3801 in 1990. The existing property has been retained and protected from flooding and erosion by a bulkhead that continues around the surrounding dredged and bulkheaded canal that was created prior to 1955,and there is no viable non-structural alternative means of maintaining and protecting the upland portion of the property in its current location. Without replacement and maintenance of the bulkhead, the subject and adjacent properties would be exposed to severe flooding and erosional damage. The project will thus effectively maintain the existing conditions along this bulkheaded canal shoreline without any change in or significant adverse impact on the adjacent unvegetated wetland area or tidal waters of the Town, although it will provide the ecological benefits associated with replacing a treated timber bulkhead with untreated vinyl sheathing. 617.20 Appendix B Short Environmental Assessment Form Instructions for Completing Part I-Project Information. The applicant or project sponsor is responsible for the completion of Part 1.Responses become part of the application for approval or funding, are subject to public review, and may be subject to further verification.
