Box 1179 0-pard of Trustees Southold, NY 11971 — — Dear Board Members: We are the owners of 950 Red Fox Road, Mattituck, New York, and received a summons and stop-work order for re-seeding our front lawn (which faces the sound) without a permit. I've had several conversations with Glen Goldsmith and am writing to confirm the plans that Glen and I discussed. With the Board's permission,we will resume the seeding work which will entail the following: (1) installing an irrigation system not closer than 30 feet back from the top of the bluff; (2) laying topsoil on the lawn up to the top of the bluff and 3) planting new grass seed on the lawn up to the top of the bluff. Our intent is,to refurbish the grass and have a nice, healthy lawn. We appreciate very much all of your efforts in-helping us resolve this so quickly. We were devastated thinking we could not longer have a grass lawn, and so happy to hear we can restore the lawn and enjoy the property. I am available at your convenience if you have any questions. We will wait until we hear back from Glen that the Board has given us permission to resume the seeding. Thanks again. y , Jen r . Le a By Email and Regular Mail 117 to Cantrell, Elizabeth From: Geoffrey Nimmer <gn@geoffreynimmerlandscapes.com> Sent: Monday, September 19, 2016 1:28 PM To: Cantrell, Elizabeth Cc: 'Jennifer&Victor'; 'Kristin Schultz' Subject: 950 Red Fox Road Dear Elizabeth, I am writing to you on behalf of Jennifer Leuba and Victor Hou,who live at 950 Red Fox road in Mattituck. We were in the process of renovating their existing lawn when the job was stopped because of concern about the bluff and the proximity to the water. I want to let you know that both myself and the homeowners want to be as respectful of the site and the bluff as possible. Our plan was, like I mentioned earlier,to renovate the existing lawn. The intention with the lawn is for it to be completely organic. As a landscape designer who promotes organic practices wherever possible, I know that the best way to do this is to start with really good soil. We had the existing lawn scraped away, so that we could bring in a large amount of a compost/topsoil combination which will then support the lawn, which we intend to start with seed. As you can imagine, time is of the essence and we feel that leaving exposed dirt creates an erosion issue that can easily be dealt with by seeding soon. We want to assure you that we all want to do the right thing and the overall plan is to keep the property organic and natural looking. The footprint of the lawn is exactly as it was before we started the work. We plan to enhance the beds on the sides with native plants. I would be happy to meet whomever would need to come to look at the job to advise us on how to move forward properly. Sincerely, Geoffrey Nimmer www.geoffreynimmeriandscapes.com 1
