Minutes from the September 28, 2016 meeting were approved. Discussion Items: 1. Dave reported on our fall event: Partnering for a Greener North Fork. This year was very successful with a total of 79 "leaves"being sold to various local businesses. 2. Dave will contact our accounting department to get an updated balance of the funds which are currently in the Committee's accounts. 3. Dave reported on the sub-committee meeting which was held with Assistant Town Attorney, Damon Hagan, on October 13, 2016 toward making progress for input to the Town in the creation of a Tree Code for Southold. He said that the meeting was very successful and a good first start. 4. The 2016 Tree List was discussed. Locations for new street tree plantings will be mapped out and provided to all of the committee for their review and additions. Dave will send out several bid requests to local nurseries for the planting of the trees. We hope to be planting about 60 new trees this year and hope to be completed with the plantings by the very end of November. 5. Discussed the need for the tree in front of liquor store and tree in front of Bridgehampton National Bank to come down. Dave will speak to Vinnie Orlando. We will drill holes and apply the root rot to these two trees, as well as the other trees in town which were removed, and wait for Spring to plant new trees, most likely replacing with a high branched flowering cherry tree. 6. Jill would like the committee to look at Bray Avenue in Mattituck near the "sump" to see about planting some trees there. 7. Supervisor Russell attended our meeting to make the committee aware of two sassafrass frees that are located in front of a home on Wickham Avenue by Wolf Pitt which are impeding the Town's installation of a sidewalk. The committee members will be looking at the site and report back. 8. Jay Jansen, Frank Imbriano and Matt Campbell are to begin staking out trees. 9. The next meeting of the Tree Committee will be November 16, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Annex Board Room. This meeting was adjourned at 8:08 PM Respectfully submitted, Diane DiSalvo
