Chairman’s Comments  Chairman Garretson briefly discussed a request by the trustees for the William Steeple Davis house in Orient to replace windows. Commissioners discussed whether or not the proposal would require an administrative permit or, if it was exempt as in-kind work. Commissioners agreed that more information was needed. Public Hearing  Scofield, 2355 Village Lane, Orient (SCTM# 1000-26.-1-13). Replace existing metal shingles on detached garage roof with green asphalt shingles to match existing house and tool shed. Richard Gillooly attended the meeting on behalf of the applicant. o Commissioner Parker explained that the hearing had been held open so that o commissioners could gather more information, visit the property and think about the proposal. Commissioner Harper asked Mr. Gillooly when the accessory building was built. o Mr. Gilloly noted that the building was built in the 1930s but that the metal roof was not the original roof. Commissioner Parker asked if the applicant had gathered any additional bids for o the work and Mr. Gillooly said that he had not. He did note, however, that there are very few places offering the metal replacement roof and that the applicant had received a bid from the same company who had provided the roof for the Village House. He said that the applicant had been unable to find a cheaper alternative. Resolution #9.20.16.1 – Failed, 3 -4  Resolution #9.20.16.1, approving the proposed roof alteration to an existing accessory at 2355 Village Lane, Orient (SCTM# 1000-26.-1-13). (A full copy of the building resolution is on file in the Southold Town Building department.). Yes: Commissioners Grathwohl and Webb, Chairman Garretson o No: Commissioners Surchin, Parker, Feiler, Harper o Pre-Submission Conference  Evan Lewis, 2395 Village Lane, Orient Mark Schwartz and Evan Lewis, on behalf of(SCTM# 1000-26.-1-12.1). Proposed addition and alteration (dormer) to an existing dwelling on a landmarked property in the Orient Historic District. Mr. Schwartz presented plans to the commission. o Commissioner Surchin and Chairman Garretson asked that the architect make o changes to the return on the dormer to better match the existing house. The commission set a public hearing on the subject for October 18. o Old Business  Update Salt Air Farm 1555 New Suffolk Road, Cutchogue (SCTM# 1000-109.-7-10.5). Alteration and relocation of a barn structure on a landmarked property. Damon Rallis presented the commissioners with the final set of drawings related o to the proposal which was set for public hearing on October 18. The commission’s only concern was the placement of the barn in relation to the o other buildings. It had been suggested that they all line up. Damon said that he would contact the applicant ahead of the public hearing and o convey that concern.  Update RTLI 150 Baywater Avenue, Southold, Commissioner Harper outlined proposed work at the above referenced property o through the Rebuilding Together Long Island organization. Commissioners agreed that all of the work being done was in-kind and therefore o exempt from the need for any approvals.  Update Brochures. Commissioner Surchin explained that she had not had a chance to revise the o brochures. Damon Rallis said he would place the item on the next agenda under old business. o New Business  Preservation Incentives Led by Commissioner Harper, the group once again discussed how the o community preservation fund could be used for historic preservation and agreed that they would put together a presentation to educate the town board.  Terry House Status Commissioner Webb asked for a status on the Karen Lund Rooney application. o The Terry House, 57020 Main Road, Application for new addition to the Southold Town Registry of Historic Landmarks. Damon explained that the information was sent to the town supervisor’s office to o be placed on the agenda and he had yet to receive a response. Chairman Garretson agreed to follow up with the Supervisor’s office. o . . Meeting Adjourned  The meeting was adjourned unanimously on a motion by Commissioner Grathwohl and a second by Commissioner Harper.
