Box 1179 c� Southold,New York 11971 RECEIVED 1 1206 ANTI-BIAS TASK FORCE, Southold Town Clerk SOUTHOLD TOWN ANTI-BIAS TASK FORCE MINUTES March 21, 2016 PRESENT: Susan Dingle, LeRoy Heyliger, Carolyn Peabody, Loretta Hatzel-Geraci,Jean LePre, Christopher North, Eleanor Lingo,Sonia Spar, and Cindy Smith Excused- Linda Ruland, Marjorie Day, Louise Hug,Valerie Shelby Town Reps-Dennis NonCarrow and William Ruland Police Rep-Chief Flatley Introductions are made of new town government liason Dennis NonCarrow. SYNERGY-will be on April 28, 2016 at the Peconic Recreation Center. Goal is to build on communication between police and community. Chief Flatley has staff that will be present at the event. A letter is being sent to churches and community reps. Christopher is to provided flyers that will be printed to advertise the event as well as an ad placed in the local newspaper. There is discussion re:the possibility of ABTF members going into the schools to announce the event. It is suggested to use the school newspaper to make articles. Dennis will cover channel 22 and will make sure it is on the town website Pizza,fruit and H2O will be served compliments of the North Fork Parish Outreach Screening of"Undocumented". For community leaders. Dennis will be checking in to venue of rec center for availability on May 17,18, AND 19. Police- no report Schools: Mattituck-no report Fishers Island-Chief Flatley has offered to take the Synergy Flyer. Oysterponds-no report Greenport-names/confidentiality re: school staff and coursework, consistency;hiring coaches Southold—no report ® NEW BUSINESS: All ABTF positions must be renewed and/or openings will be advertised. ® Youth Forum- Leroy and Christopher were present at the event as AABTF reps. They were screening the movie "Bullying "and each table had representatives present from different schools. The film on homophobia was British. ® "truth Group " in Brentwood may be a good group to look into for the ABTF picnic August 18, 2016.. They really engaged the audience. There is a cost involved. • There is discussion re; incident in Riverhead . Can we reach out to Riverhead ABTF and support them by doing an article on the danger of jokes? • The sign in Orient is in the process of being replicated and replaced. The sign has been redone and is replaced in Laurel. (Southold Town/working toward a Bias-Free community. There is a motion to adjourn at 11:45 made by Carolyn, seconded by Christopher.
