Public Hearing  Kane, 335 Village Lane, Orient (SCTM# 1000-25.-2-4.13) “as built” and proposed alterations to an existing single family dwelling on a landmarked property. Architect Mark Schwartz presented his most recent plan which included both as o built work, as well as proposed alterations. Commissioners discussed the windows installed on the façade of the dwelling. Although an administrative permit was issued to replace the windows in kind, commissioners questioned whether or not this was the case. Mr. Schwartz noted that the windows were Andersen 400 Series Insert Windows o with Simulated Divided Light exterior grilles. Administrative Assistant Damon Rallis noted that the window change needed to be included in the public hearing as the administrative permit had been previously revoked. Mr. Schwartz also noted that another change had been made to the proposal, o which included replacing an existing brick stoop with a bluestone stoop. Damon Rallis outlined the language of the Certificate of Appropriateness which o included the “as built” replacement of windows, the proposed replacement of an existing brick stoop to bluestone, the legalization of an “as built” roof line change, and an “as built” wood door replacement. Resolution #6.21.16.1 – Passed, 6 -1  Resolution #6.21.16.1, approving the “as built” and proposed alterations to an existing single family dwelling at 335 Village Lane, Orient (SCTM# 1000-25.-2-4.13). Approved on a motion by Commissioner Webb and a second by Commissioner Grathwohl. Commissioner Surchin voted “no”. (A full copy of the resolution is on file in the Southold Town Building department.) Appointment  John Currin, 745 King Street, Orient Mark Kaffaga, (SCTM# 1000-26.-1-32.1). Contractor. “As built” alterations to the façade of an existing single family dwelling on a landmarked property in the Orient Historic District. Commissioners continued the discussion of the “as built” work following the o public hearing from May 17, 2016, with contractor Mark Kaffaga. Commissioners were still concerned with the “size” of the “as built” enclosed gutter. Mr. Kaffaga explained that there was an error on the plans which showed that the width of the gutter would be cut back to 1’, 6”. The actual width, he explained, would be 1’ 2”. Resolution #6.21.16.2 – Passed, 5 -2  Resolution #6.21.16.2, approving the “as built” and proposed changes to the “as built” alterations at 745 King Street, Orient (SCTM# 1000-26.-1-32.1), was approved on a motion by Commissioner Grathwohl and a second by Commissioner Webb. Commissioners Parker and Harper voted “no”. (A full copy of the resolution is on file in the Southold Town Building department.) Appointment  Hideaki Arizumi, Architect. Faerber, 2072 Village Lane, (Pre-submission Conference) Orient (SCTM# 1000-24.-2-27). Additions and alterations to the façade of an existing single family dwelling on a landmarked property in the Orient Historic District. Questions were raised regarding the style of the proposed garage door. Mr. o Arizumi explained that they had not yet chosen a garage door for the project. Questions were raised regarding the windows, as the house currently features o varying window styles. Mr. Arizumi explained that the windows would be replaced in kind. Commissioner Harper suggested instead that the applicants consider choosing one window style and matching that style throughout the project. Old Business  Continued discussion of proposed changes to the town’s Historic Preservation Law. Chairman Garretson explained that the commission would be invited to an o upcoming town board work session to discuss proposed changes to Chapter 170-6 of the Southold Town Code.  Continued discussion of East Marion Historic District. Commissioner Harper explained that he had attended a second meeting of the East o Marion Civic Association to discuss a possible historic district in the hamlet. He said there was great interest in creating the district and that he was reaching out to Zach Studenroth to move the proposal forward. . Meeting Adjourned  The meeting was adjourned unanimously on a motion by Chairman Garretson and a second by Commissioner Grathwohl.
