Upon receipt of an application for a Pre-existing Certificate
of Occupancy, I made an inspection of this one and one-half story,
partial one-story wood framed dwelling. I was admitted to building
by Mrs. Kanz who accompanied me during this inspection which began
at approximately 1:30 P.M.
The first floor consists of a kitchen, utility room, half
bathroom, dining room, living room, full bathroom, front entry
hallway, and two connecting rooms on northwest corner of building.
Second floor, accessible by stairway from front entry hallway,
consists of three bedrooms and a full bathroom. Building is con-
structed on a rubble stone foundation with access to crawl space
through trap door in floor of the room on northwest corner of
building. Heat is furnished to all rooms from a gas fired hot
water furnace located in utility room.
The following violations of the Housing Code, Chapter 52,
Town of Southold, New York, were found:
Bathrooms - first floor half bath and second floor full
bathroom, no moisture resistant floor covering, Article II,
Section 52-26 A 4.
Entry hall - first floor, no light on entry, Article V,
Section 52-56 B 2. (Renovation of hallway in progress.
Mrs. Kanz made note that light and switch controlling
light is required at point of entry.)
Exterior - paint peeling from window trim, eaves and cornice
on north side of building, Article III, Section 52-31 B.
Accessory building on property was constructed under Building
Permit #5597Z dated October, 1971 to which subsequent Certificate
of Occupancy Z5134 was issued. Location of this structure is in
front yard area with approval from the Board of Appeals, Appeal No.
1471, dated October 21, 1971. A stone wall constructed beyond
boundary lines on Fletcher Street right-of-way was approved by Mr.
Raymond Dean, Superintendent of Highways, Town of Southold. This
was confirmed by Howard Terry with a phone call to Mr. Dean this
day.

instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in DUPLICATE to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposa! ~:(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey.of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinen, t in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
C. Fees: 1. Certificate of occupancy $5.00
