REGULAR MEETING

This Regular Meeting of the Southold Town Tree Committee was called to order at 7:00 PM at
the Southold Town Annex.
Minutes from the April 22, 2015 Regular Meeting were approved.
Meeting dates for the remainder of 2015 were finalized as follows: June 24; no meeting in July;
August 26; September 23; October 28; November 18 and December 16. All meetingsto be held
in the Annex Conference Room at 7:00 PM.
Discussion Items:
1. Letter and Donation from Jack McGreevy re: Memorial Tree replacement in New
Suffolk. Thank you reply to be sent by Bonnie Doroski explaining that the tree is
scheduled to be replaced in the Fall 2015.
2. Agreed that the tree on Route 25 Southold, near Bay Home Road, should be taken
down by the NYS DOT. Highway Department to be notified.
3. Dave Cichanowicz will set up a meeting with Vincent Orlando, Highway
Superintendent to discuss the removal of the tree on Main Road Southold, near Town
Hall, and other trees on Route 25 Southold (near the pharmacy).
4. Stefan Feuerabendt asked about having trees planted on Halyoke and Orchard Street
in Orient. Committee members will go out and make the decision as to what type of
trees would be appropriate for that area. Planting to take place in Fall 2015.
5. Philip Goldman reported that he was asked by the New Suffolk School District to
come in and talk to the students about plant propagation. Date and time to be
scheduled.
6. Some discussion about the Tree Committee participating in upcoming parades. It was
decided against participating in the July 4t parade as there is not enough time for
planning. The 375th Anniversary Parade will be held August 1; the Committee
members felt they may be able to participate, they could possibly hand out cards that
explain the Tree Committee's mission. T-shirts for Committee members would need
to be ordered.
7. Peggy Murphy will speak to Jeff Standish in regard to a tree being planted at
Silversmith's corner in honor of the Town of Southold's 375th Anniversary, to take
place in the late summer possibly on a night when the summer concert series is taking
place. Gingko and Tulip trees were discussed as appropriate.
8. Bonnie will message Derek Bossen re: tree at 390 Park Way and request from Troy
Gustayson from previous meeting.
