HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/28/2015 Southold Town Tree Committee Town Hall Annex Board Room October 28, 2015 7:00 P.M. Minutes Old Business: Approve Minutes of September 23, 2015 (did not review. Will put on November meeting). Dave relayed to the committee that 4 trees where sent over and planted on Fishers Island. Peter Burr thanked the committee for making this happen. Frank needs to send bill for the trees. ' 375th: DaVe will ask Vinny Orlando to grind stump at Silver Smiths Corner. We will plant a Ginko Tree there on November 21st. Jill will order plaque from Staples Monuments saying 375 Anniversary Tree. Plaque in Memory of Kenneth Kavesh: Don spoke to family and gave plaque to family who will place it at tree they planted in Nassau Point. Street Trees in Southold hamlet: Don met with DOT with regard to replanting that area. A State permit will be required and DOT will work with us. Joanne Tamin: Jay will contact List of People who still haven't given $100. Dave contacted his people. Frank has 2 to contact. New Business: Next meeting of the Tree Committee November 18, 2015 (3 Weeks) 2015 Fall Tree List: See attached Set list of trees to be planted: Tree locations will be staked with notice attached. Appox. 25 trees to be planted. Some locations Gerard will call "before dig" to make sure under ground utilities are not in the way. We will get tree donations from Seatuck, Shade Tree and Frank. The committee will plant current list of trees possibly with Boy Scouts. Also to have Boy Scouts do a project of cleaning and maintenance on existing plaques. . Dave will work up bid specs to hire out planting of remaining trees and contact 3 companies. Dave will call Southold Park District to discuss permission and location of Trees for Mr. Marchians request to plant at Founders Landing. Members to meet and look for places to plant trees and stake prior to November 21st. Which is the tentative date to plant. 380 Inlet Lane, Greenport: Town got put on notice to check this tree. Gerard will take a look and get back to Jill.
