HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/18/2015 RECEIVED SOUTHOLD TOWN TREE COMMITTEE �� MAR 3 2016 REGULAR MEETING TOWN HALL ANNEX BOARD ROOM Southold Town Clerk November 18, 2015 7:00 PM Present: Dave Cichanowicz, Peggy Murphy, Gerard Orientale, Frank Imbriano, Philip Goldman, Jay Jansen, Derek Bossen, Jill,Doherty Absent: Donald Grim This Regular Meeting of the Southold Town Tree Committee was called to order at 7:00 PM at the Southold Town Annex. Minutes from the September 23, 2015 and October 28, 2015 meetings were approved. Discussion Items: 1. 375th Anniversary Tree to be planted at Silversmiths Corner November 21 at 11:00 AM Jill has a plaque for the tree from the Tree Committee. -She will contact the press. Peg will contact Herb Adler from the 375th Anniversary Committee. Frank will donate a ginko tree for this project. The date and time will be put on the Town's website. 2. There were two bids received for planting of trees, Lakeside was chosen to do the plantings. Trees are coming from Imbriano Farms, Frank will submit an invoice for the trees and also for the ones planted on Fishers Island. Locations have been staked out for plantings which should begin late November and finish up in early December. 39 trees in total were planted. 3. Jay is sending Derek the information on where the plaques are located so the Boy Scouts can begin cleaning them sometime in the Spring as a community service project. 4. Reminder letters were sent out to the schools in regard to the Arbor Day poster contest. 5. Tentative dates for 2016 Tree Committee meetings were discussed. They are: January 20, February 24, March 23, April 27, May 25,, June 22, July 27, August 24, September 28, October 26,November 16 and December 21. Bonnie will put on calendar for 2016. 6. Dave will contact Southold Park District for plantings of Richard Marscheans memorial trees. 7. The next meeting of the Tree Committee will be December 16, 2015.
