Discussions:
Agreed that there is a significant value in including the historical development
of the Town of Southold to the Comprehensive Plan.
The Historical changes in development serve as a window to the
community to see the consequences of past changes.
Housing is need to sustain any commerce.
Discussed a need to increase affordable housing density as a way to balance
what the town has absorbed through land preservation.
A Public Hearing is being set to discuss the proposal to increase
affordable housing project density to 12 units per acre with a maximum
of 24 units per project.
Discussed the need to find a way to address the septic and health department
regulations that occur.
Recognized how the Town of Southold strongly resembles a Naturally
Occurring Retirement Community (NORC).
Committee is developing a public relations project with the goal of creating
small community meetings to educate about affordable housing.
Housing Advisory Commission is open to new members.
Next Meeting Scheduled for July 20, 2016 @ 5:30 pm in the Town Supervisors
Conference Room.
Meeting Adjourned 6:25 pm.
Respectfully submitted, Tracey Dwyer
