Box 1179 Southold, NY 11:971 Re: FLUPSY Cock for 975 Cedar Point ®rive !Nest, Southold Owner(s): Sieg Strecker & Cameron ®owe ®ear Trustees, This email discusses the design of the HIOAC Floating Up-welter. See attached. this Up-welter is used extensively by many U.S. Oyster Farms along the East and West Coast and has become the industry standard. Through years of trials and errors this design has balanced water flow and growth rate. The FLUPSY could be modified at significant cost but would sacrifice yield and growth rates of the young seed. The flow rate of the unit to feed all the oysters would be greatly diminished by altering the trough or the silos. The size of floats are at the smallest footprint possible while considering the steadily increasing weight of the growing oysters. We would like to work with you to update the lease standards to accommodate our FLUPSY unit for the benefit of all aquaculture farms in your region. Hooper's Island Oyster Aquaculture Company was created to produce the equipment needed to support the aquaculture industry in the State of Maryland and baoader U.S. oyster industry. Through thorough research, we have successfully built equipment and designed a system that will easily transition the traditional methods of the Maryland waterman into a cutting edge industry. The development of a new oyster industry that parallels the existing public fishery will re-establish a healthy balance within the oyster fishery and the entire seafood industry. That is very important to today's consumer. We, as a society, have played a role in the deterioration of the Chesapeake Bay and we must all work to improve its overall quality. Through the development of oyster aquaculture, the Maryland waterman will be seen as contributors to the ecological recovery of the Bay. As an industry, we must be progressive and start recognizing today's societal demands and find ways to leverage them in positive ways. These new approaches will be the first of many steps forward in the revitalization of the Chesapeake Bay and the Maryland seafood industry.
