NEW YORK 06390 April 3, 1992 Mr. Gordon C. Hyde - Architect Chandler, Palmer, & King t10 Broadway, Norwich, Ct. 06360 Dear Mr. Hyde: Just a short note to thank you for your consideration in sending me a copy of the site plan for the new maintenance and barracks buildings, etc. on the Fishers Island Club golf course. I have reviewed the blueprints, as have several members of our Board, and we feel very pleased with the outcome of the changes that you have outlined in red color that will bring the buildings and attached drives and grounds £nto line with the 75-foot distance from the wetland that both town and its trustees deem proper. I have also communicated with John Bredemeyer, the Chair~.~n of the Southold Trustee panel, and he agrees wi~h me that if it can be don~ without unduly disrupting the pro0ect, he too would prefer the 75-foot town limit on distance from the wetland be adhered to. As we discussed, this limit is usually in force throughout the Island unless there are genuinely compelling reasons to grant a variance to it. Given that the Island Golf Course is a very heavily traveled area in the snmmertime (and indeed in fal-~--~nd spring as well), it would certainly set a precedent bound to be imitated and pushed for by others who wish to push their ~ projects ever closer to the wetlands. Again, I and my committee can't thank you enough for your flexibility and cooperation in re-drawing your construction lines 10 feet further back from the wetlands boundaries to conform properly to the town ordinance. We certainly have no objection to the scope and generml detail of this golf course project at all, and am assuming that these changes will result in a DEC permit and the projects speedy completion. Our best wishes once more. cc: Charles Arnold DEC permit administrator John Bredemeyer - Southold Board of Trustees j.m.o, consulTing p.o. box 447 quogue, n.y. 11959 t516) 653.0607 June~,'-~=~ ].990 Between the 1st Fairway and the 2nd Green, the applicant proposes to remove material that has eroded into an existing drainage ditch, then to install soil erosion matting in the existing ditch to provide for proper drainage.
