Dear Gary: I have reviewed the plan, project ~8347, dated 4/10/84, for the proposed retaining wall. Based on the plans and my visit to the premises to check the stakes placed into bank for location of proposed wall, it is my opinion that this project is not in wetlands as defined under Sec. 97-13 of the Wetlands Ordinance, Chapter 97, Code of the Town of Southold. Strang for Michael DiCarlo for a Wetland Permit to construct a retaining wall for the prevention of additional erosion ~o the existing natural bluff, North side of Calves Neck Road, 958 feet east of Youngs Ave., Southold, Trustee Bednoski s~a~ed that the Trustees visited the site on May 23, 1984. There was no sign of erosion. If this were approved it would be the first one of this kind in the area and we didn't see that this was necessary. We would like to see him replant in front .to restore the beach To it's natural state rather than to construct ~his retaining wall. Trustee Smith'stated that the Trustees thought that being there are no retaining walls in this area, it may put a hardship on ~he neighbors in the area, and we deem it unnecessary. The Trustees also suggested planting vegetation up on the bank. On motion made by Trustee Bednoski seconded by Trustee Cochran it was RESOLVED to recommend to the Town Board disapproval of the Wetland Application submitted by Garrett A.
