Dear Mr. Coleman:
Confirming our conversation of last evening, the Southold
Trustees will consider your application for a wetland permit to
secure a float in West Harbor, Fishers Island upon receipt of
the following:
A completed application form provided with this
letter.
A historical account of the prior existence of the
float at the proposed location (hopefully with
documentary proof that it existed prior to June 29,
1971.

which the float will be fastened. If it can be
demonstrated by a licensed survey that the float can
be installed solely on public property please provide
this documentary proof.
Submission of these' materials prior to our May 2, 1991 meeting
will expedite the process such that a determination in this
matter could be made at our June 6, 1991 meeting.
Submission of these materials shall in no way be construed as
permission to continue use of the floats, in West Harbor.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to
contac~ this office.

Dear Mr. Coleman:
As a result of Trustee field inspections performed on Fishers
Island this summer, it has come to the attention of the Board
first hand that you have constructed a floating dock in West
Harbor without a Town Wetlands permit.
When the Senior Bay Constable responded to our complaint in
October, it was apparent the structure had been removed for
season.
the
As you may not place this structure in West Harbor without a
Town Wetlands permit, you are hereby put on notice that further
activity in West Harbor in contravention to this and prior
communications from the Board, 'shall result in your being issued
a criminal summons to appear in court.
By copy of this letter, Fishers Island Bay Constable, John
Clavin, is directed to enforce Chapter 97 of the Code of
Southold in this matter. Please do not hesitate to call if this
is at all unclear to you.
Sincerely,
John M. Bredemeyer, III

Dear Mr. Coleman:
At your direction we have contacted Mr. Tom Dougherty, current
President of the Fisher Island Utility Company, and he advised ~s that
they would not consider granting permission to cross their land for access
to the water. The parcel adjacent to that property and belonging to the
Church does not border on the water.
At this time we can not process your application any further.

Re: Wetland application No. 4-14-89-9-2-15
Dear Mrs. Coleman:
During our inspections on Fishers Island yesterday, it was brought to
our attention that your property does not have direct access to the
water. We cannot gran~ permission for floating docks or other structures
in waters not connected ~o the property owners land.
The Board can give permission for a mooring in the area which you
indicated, if you provide a letter from Mr. Albert D. Dawson granting you
permission to use his property for access.
