At the Trustee meeting held on August 30, 1984 the Board
of Trustees reviewed the following correspondence:
Request of Ethel Wortis, Rufih E. Cooke, and Nicholas Port
for a Quit Claim from the Town Trustees to that area of beach
which lies over the North Channel the length of the north

of tw? portions of beach - that which will belong to the Park
District and that which~will continue to belong to Bayside
Farm, which it is planned to lease to the Park District.
Request from John Wickham for a Quit Claim deed for that
portion of land lying between high and low water level on

Mr. Henry T. Smith, President
Board of Town Trustees
Town Hall
Main Road
Southold, N. Y. 11971
SOUTHOLD NEW YORK
August 3, 1984
Dear Mr. Smith:
The owners of Bayside Farm, South Harbor Road, would like to ask the
Town~/~rustees,~to consider the following request at their meeting on
August 30ieth:
In consideration of these points:-
--that authority over creek beds rests with Town Trustees
--that Mott Island, located across the old North Channel of
Richmond Creek, opposite the end of South Harbor Road, belonged to
Bayside Farm from 1912 (Liber 573~ page 135)
~that it was with permission of the owners of Bayside Farm
that sand-fill from the dredging of Richmond Creek in 1959 was used
to connect the end of SouthHarbor Road with Mott Island, providing
access from the road to the bay and the main channel into Richmond
Creek, which has been available by permission bf Bayside Farm for
twenty-five years
--that owners of land abutting the old ~North Channel have
been granted Quit Claims by the Town ~rustees to ~he end that th~se
ownerS~Eained clear claim to the beach in front of their property
to the high tide mark
--that Bayside Farm owners are in the process of working out
an agreement with Southold Park District whereby they will have title
to ~he be~h~ in f]~ont of Terry, Glover, Griswold Park ~(South Harbor Road)
we now therefore wish to request a Quit Claim from the Town Trustees to
that area of beach which lies over the North Channel the length of the
north shore of Mort Island, for the purpose of clarifying ownership of
the two portions Of beach -that-which will belong to the Park District
and that which will continue to belong to Bayside Farm, which it is
planned to lease to the Park District.
We hope tha~ it will be D0ssible for the Trustees to review the above
five Doiut"s before your August 30 Trustee Meeting. We expect to bring
to that meeting a survey of the beach which is now being prepared.
We thank you for your consideration of
this matter.

Dear Mr. Collins:
Mrs. Ruth cooke has contacted this office in regard to the
status of the above mentioned subdivision.
We informed Mrs. Cooke that the sketch approval which had
been granted by the Planning Board on January 14, 1987, had
expired (sketch approval expires after 6 months if no futher
action is taken). Mrs. Cooke was told that a new application and
application fee had no be submitted before the Planning Board
would proceed with the subdivision. Mrs. Cooke submitted a new
application, however she did not submit a new application fee.
She is reluctant ~o submit an application fee until the road
situation is clarified.
This proposal is for a major subdivision and therefore the-
Right-of-Way must be 50' in width. A copy of the Highway
specifications is encloused for your review.
The Planning Board will proceed with this application upon
submission of the application fee. ~
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to
contac5 this office.
Very tru~ours,
CHAIRMAN
