County: Suffolk. Dear David Kennedy : In response to your recent request,we have reviewed the New York Natural Heritage Program database with respect to the above project. Enclosed is a report of rare or state-listed animals and plants, and significant natural communities, which our databases indicate occur, or may occur, on your site or in the immediate vicinity of your site. For most sites, comprehensive field surveys have not been conducted; the enclosed report only includes records from our databases. We cannot provide a definitive statement as to the presence or absence of all rare or state-listed species or significant natural communities. Depending on the nature of the project and the conditions at the project site, further information from on-site surveys or other sources may be required to fully assess impacts on biological resources. Our databases are continually growing as records are added and updated. If this proposed project is still under development one year from now,we recommend that you contact us again so that we may update this response with the most current information. The presence of the plants and animals identified in the enclosed report may result in this project requiring additional review or permit conditions. For further guidance, and for information regarding other permits that may be required under state law for regulated areas or activities (e.g.,regulated wetlands),please contact the appropriate NYS DEC Regional Office, Division of Environmental Permits, as listed at www.dec.ny.gov/about/39381.html. In most cases the precise location of the plant or animal in this vicinity at the time it was last documented is also unknown. If suitable habitat for these plants or animals is present in the vicinity of the project site, it is possible that they may still occur there. We recommend that any field surveys to the site include a search for these species, particularly at sites that are currently undeveloped and may still contain suitable habitat. In the area that you arproposing this devlopment,we have one officer in a sector car that is responsible for Alvah's Lane Cutchogue to Pcanic Lane,Pecanic, from the Long Island ounci to the north to the Peconic T3ay to the south.Besides thofficer that worlcs this sectar there may also be apecial Pah•ol unit(Hihway Patr•ol,I-9, Comrnunity Response Unit,Nlarine Unit) woricing an assignment in this sector. 2. Although this question is rather vague, our offier that worlcs this sector is arrr►ed, also carries a TASER and in the near future a patrol rifle. The officer would have his patrol vehiclequipped with an AED, oxyn and in-car video. This officer also has access to a!Iarine Unit,IC-9 through our dpartment and aviation and emergency seivices unit through Suffollc County Police department. Our department also has a Cammand Van for comrnunications and command dui•ing any major event or call. 3. In 2013 thofficers working this sector responded to 2,232 calls for service. The type of calls are everythinfrom Aided Cases,Activafed Alarms, Police Services,Disturbances,Investigations to various crimes. 4. The estimated response time to an emergency call at this location would b4 minutes. 5. The Police Department's Annualudget for 2014 was appx. $1.3 million. 6. Thmain issue our department would have with the proposed developmnt at this site would b tihe increase in vehicular trafc in the Cutchogue Village ara. The closest access to tatRoute 25 for residents would be from Gtifng treet and this intersection is already a difficult intersectioti to naviate becausof its location in the heart of Cutchogue village and the close proximity of the traffic light at New uffoll<Road and Rt. 25. The only otller access to Route 25 would be via Depot Lane, which is also a tough intrsection to accss 12t. 25 from, only governed by a stop sign.Access to Caunty loute 48 is also difficult from Depot Lane as theris anly a flashing caution light/i°ed light at this intersectioll. We would naturally expect an increase in calls for service for our department from the added residents in this proposed dvelopment.
