NINUTES. Continued
July 17, 1958
By resolution of the Board it was determined that the special exception be
granted to erect a 6 x 12 foot metal sign of the type approved by the Outdoor
Advertising Association on property of Della H. Chew which borders the south
side of Route 25 at the west end of Mattituck, at a location approximately 700
feet east of the Powder Puff gas station. This sign to be erected in accordance
with Section Z08, paragraph (A) of the Ordinance. Attention was directed to
provision in Section 408 requiring that the sign be at least 5 feet from the
property line and that the overall height of the sign shall not exceed 15' 6".
Permission was granted with the stipulation that it may be revoked for cause.
PUBLIC HEAP. ING: Appeal No. 75 on application of A. Ronning, Knollwood Lane,
Mattituck, New York. ~eepaid was $15.00. Appeal for a variance to the Zoning
Ordinance under Article III, Section 306.
Chairman opened the hearing by reading application, letter to Mr. Ronning
advising of the date of the public hearing, notice of disapproval for a permit
to build submitted by the Building Inspector, legal notice of hearing with
affidavit attesting to publication in the local newspaper.
Chairman then asked if there was anyone present who wished to speak either
for or against the appeal.
Mr. Ronning then presented a plot plan and plan of the proposed building.
By resolution of the Board it was determined to grant the requested variance
permitting the applicant to place his house not closer than 30 feet from Knollwood
Lane. All other side and rear yard restrictions of the Ordinance would not be
affected. Board determined that because of the slope of the land in question
and there being no other adjoining land ~vailab!e, strict application of the
Ordinance would constitute an undue and unique hardship, and the proposed dwelling
would not chang~ the character of the neighborhood. Lot in question is located
N/E Knollwood ~ne, Knollwood Terrace, ~httituck, N. Y., approximately lOCt x
141', irregn]ar in shape.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 2~, 1958, at 7:30 P.M.
Meeting adjourned at 9 P.~.
Respectfully submitted,
Secretary
