Upon receipt of an application for a Pre-existing Certificate
of Occupancy, I made an inspection of this one story framed
dwelling and found the following violations of the Housing
Code, Chapter 52, Town of Southold, New York. I admitted
myself to rear entrance beginning inspection with cellar at
approximately 1:40 P.M.
Cellar -
rear foundation wall, elbow of underground
con~duit, cover off and wires are exposed -
two open electric junction boxes on ceiling
over work bench - electric outlet ceiling
over bench requires plate. Main circuit
box requires cover. Open electric junction
box over bench near east wall of cellar.
Article V, Sec. 52-56 A.1. Floor of cellar
encumbered with heaps of old clothing, scrap
lumber, miscellaneous parts of dismantled
equipment. Article VII, Sec. 52-72 B.
The first floor consists of two bedrooms, inside bathroom,
kitchen, living room, dining room and enclosed porch. Heat
is furnished to all rooms from an oil fired hot water furnace
located in full cellar. An addition to rear of building
encloses rear entrance to enclosed porch and former outside
entrance to cellar.
Rear entrance enclosure firewood stacked at foot of
steps to first floor against wall of enclosure.

Bathroom - Floor covering at base of toilet bowl deterior-
ating. Article III, Sec. 52-32 D.
Ail rooms
floors, walls, Kitchen and bathroom equipment -
unkept and unclean. Fireplace in living room, ashes
still warm at time of inspection. A wood frame
window screen is being used over fireplace opening;
frame of screen partially.burned away and ashes
from fireplace extend over hearth to wood floor
and carpet. Article IV, Sec. 52-41 C., Article
VII, Sec. 52-72 B-C.

of wood construction built into soil, shingle siding,
lower courses not completed - rough siding is deterior-
ating. Window trim, sash, building trim - paint peeling
exposing bare wood. Article II/, Sec.. ~2-~c C.

Accessory - two car garage with lean-to storage - shingles and
trim broken and missing, electrical outlet and switch requires
plate, sand and gravel heaped against north side of building.

Inspection completed at approximately 2:30 P.M.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instruetlons
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in DUPLICATE to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposol--(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
For existing buildings (prior to April ]957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
i. Accurate survey of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
C. Fees: 1. Certificate of occupancy $5.00
