Upon receipt of an application for a Pre-Existing Certificate
of Occupancy I made an inspection of the buildings at the above
captioned premises. I was admitted to dwelling by Mrs. Christensen
and began this inspection at 11:00 A.M.
The dwelling is a one story wood frame structure constructed
on a cement block foundation. This inspection covers the northerly
end of the house which was the Pre-Existing portion. The southerly
end of the dwelling was added onto under Building Permit # 1072Z,
dated May 6, 1960 to which subsequent Certificate of Occupancy
was issued # Z1054, dated June 5, 1961. An accessory building was
constructed under Building Permit # 4550Z, dated November 12, 1969.
This building was used as a stable-Certificate of occupancy #Z4202,
dated April 22, 1971. The Pre-Existing portion of this building
contains a front entry vestibule, dining room, two bedrooms, full
bathroom, kitchen and rear entry vestibule. An interior stairway
to the cellar is located in this portion of the dwelling. Heat is
furnished to all rooms from an oil fired hotwater furnace located
in full cellar.
The following violations of the Housing Code, Chapter 52,
Code of the Town of Southold were found:
Bedrooms- windows in both bedrooms are awning type, high on
exterior walls above the~nimimum 3'6" requirement for use as
emergency egress. Article II, Section 52-28 D ( Reference
New York State Building Construction Code A 206-2b).
Gas cooking range - no shut off valve at unit. Article V,
Section 52-52 B 2.
Stairway- cellar - no rail on open side. Article II,
Section 52-27 A.

APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY
Instructions
A. This application must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and submitted in DUPLICATE to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposol--(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multiple Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey.of property showing all property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspection of buildings or premises, or other pertinent in-
formation required to prepare a certificate.
