TOWN OF SOUTHOLD October 5, 1999 To Whom it May Concern, My father purchased the summer cottage immediately across the street from what is now the Byrnes residence in 1937. At the time I was 11 years old. Ever since then I have spent weekends and vacations at the cottage from May thru October. Even aider I married in 1950 my wife and I would spend weekends and vacations at the cottage. In 1954 my father made a major expansion to the cottage by adding a bedroom wing and building a garage, which was a major unde~aMng for our family. In 1962 1 purchased the cottage from my father and we continued to use it as a major part of our lives. I understand that age of the garage in the rear of the Byrnes property is being questioned. To the best of my recollection the Byrnes garage was in existence in 1954 when our major expansion was completed. In a small community of small homes any major addition or expansion was noticed and commented on by the residents. I hope that his brief commem can assist in clarification of this issue.
