Discussion re:July minutes. Amend sentence to read: We agreed to o. .`e 'c our sw7-1 self awareness
about bias, and to help each other develop respect for all people. A gee ;5':_=1,,sion was held. A
motion was made, seconded and passed that in the future the ABT-- 7ii71c tes w i oe approved before
being submitted to the town board. The minutes were zp roved as Err,�r.:dec.
UNITY PICNIC: Loretta and Val were acknowledged for their role,and were voted by acclamation to be
the chairs for next year. They accepted. General discussion inciLdes Councilman Ruland thought event
was successful and in general the committee felt the event was well planned and feedback was positive.
About 160 people attended.
Poetry Street was a good addition to the event as was speaker James Banks.
Acknowledgements: Linda's baskets, great banner overall organization. Next time we will encourage
more participation from the clergy community, more involvement from youth culture, more arts,get
people to commit earlier and start planning in March. Also pictures to be taken and event documented.
Volunteer EMT on site and/or nurse Need to monitor recycling-maybe even have more scouts to

Food: no leftovers, which is good. We may be able to build on our list of vendors reach out to other
communities and consider renting hot boxes or asking caterers to donate?
Date for next year has already been set for August 13. Group homes are welcomed. WE may suggest
some supervision at the food serving table and make sure that servers state "you can always come back
after everyone has been served.
Helen Prince acknowledgement will be October 5. Although Ken Reeves had said the date was already
taken by someone else,Val met with Scott Russell so that the date and place are now booked and
confirmed for that date.
Sona and LeRoy had a meeting with Suffolk Times,who agreed to do panels for the event and to create
a one page handout. Suffolk Times will be co-sponsoring the event.
SCHOOLS: Marjorie has contacted schools to get DACA updated and a list of current coordinators.
They should have been appointed since 2012.
POLICE: Police are going to do a sensitivity training. It will take 2 weeks and will be done at
headquarters.
NEW BUSINESS:
Carolyn introduced the idea of screening a documentary video on undocumented immigration which
was made by two graduate students at SUNY SB School of Social Welfare. A general discussion was held.
We agreed to hold a private screening for clergy and other community leaders at the First Presbyterian
Church by the end of October. Susan Dingle will confirm location and date with Reverend Kelly.
A Suggestion was introduced that the MLK celebration be held in a secular location.
At 11:45 LeRoy makes a motion to adjourn. Loretta seconds . All are in favor.
Next meeting is scheduled for August 17,2015 at 10 am at town hall.
