HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/2015 October 30, 2015 To: Town Board Fr: Phillip Beltz Re: OCTOBER 2015 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Housing:  With Rona Smith, Chair, Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) developed agenda for HAC meeting.  Transcribed and disseminated HAC minutes.  Assisted with facilitation of public forum on affordable housing.  Meeting with two applicants for affordable housing, first-time homebuyers counseling, etc.  Submitted additional reminder to residents of Cottages for compliance with affordable housing policies and procedures—all received.  Meeting with Bill Duffy and Steve Kiely re housing administration tasks.  Meeting with Mary Sillick, Town Attorney’s office, re CPF tax exemption administration.  Meeting with board member of Initiative for the Southold Community Land Trust. Recommended that they partner with Community Development Corporation of Long Island.  Scheduled meeting for Supervisor, Town Attorney and Planning Director to meet with developer regarding potential initiative to foster apartments.  One application received, amended registry.  Accessory apartment tenants: Received updated lease and income for one resident. Other apartment tenant vacated before lease and forwarded income and rental rates to landlord, Doug Biviano. Youth Bureau  Facilitated Youth Bureau board meeting that included board meeting Youth Advisory Council members.  Facilitated Youth Advisory Council meeting with Youth Bureau volunteer Bob Duffin.  Attended North Fork Alliance quarterly meeting.  Meeting with East End Partnership for Youth re community mapping exercise.  Finalized Juvenile Aid Bureau applications.  Meeting with Dr. Larry Weiss and Robyn-Berger Gaston re transition of Youth Bureau and request of Family Service League assistance with future training.  Meeting with Southampton and Riverhead Youth Bureau directors re transition of East End projects (community mapping, etc.) Comprehensive Plan:  No report. Economic Development:  Facilitated Economic Development Committee meeting and scheduled meeting with the Town Board to discuss upcoming initiatives.  Subcommittee meetings with North Fork Promotion Council to celebrate “Southold Then and Now” for American Express Small Business Saturday. Ordered marketing materials through Ink Spot.  Meeting with Anne-Julia Audray to discuss potential tax abatements for development of Southold Opera. Introduction to Heather Lanza for assistance with implementation.  Meeting with Rona Smith and Bill Bjoruholm (Peconic Landing Dining Director) re development of workshop for food industries. Community Development:  Attended CDBG public hearing for October 20, 2015, notified Town Board.  Meeting with Tanya Palmore, North Fork Housing Alliance, re spending down CDBG funds, she assures that balance will deplete by year end.  Meeting with Community Development Block Grant Steering Committee to propose 2016 funding allocations: 5k to CAST, Maureen’s Haven for public services. 5k for purchase and installation of showers at HRC for emergency shelter and $34,164 for Recreation Center improvements (flooring, tables and chairs.) Other:  Submitted article of “News from Southold Town” for Fishers Island Fog Horn.  Several meetings with Valerie Shelby and Sonia Spar regarding assistance with Anti-Bias Task Force planning of Helen Prince recognition (developed press release, program, etc.  Finalized account with Survey Monkey to collect information regarding how residents want to be informed.  Meeting with Town Board to discuss SPC 2016 budget.  Developed Community Notices advertisement for the Suffolk Times.  Finalized petty cash disbursements, voucher preparation.
