Laura Held, Karen McLaughlin, Ryan Case, Patricia Mellas, Jillian Ruroede and Councilman Bill Ruland. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of July 13, 2015 were approved. YAC Membership: Need three students for Greenport and two students for th Southold, none needed for Mattituck. The YAC meeting will be Weds. Sept. 30 at 5 p.m. in the Peconic Lane Community Center. Youth Worker Training: The Long Island Youth Bureau Association is hosting a Youth Worker training in Brookhaven the end of October at no charge. th Parent University: Suffolk County Youth Bureau looking at October 8 to host morning training to East End school administrators regarding parent university— tentatively looking at Mattituck but no response from Superintendent Anne Smith. Afterschool Pilot Program-Superintendent David Gamberg: Mr. Gamberg reported that the development of an afterschool pilot program will be beneficial in assisting middle school students who struggle with the developmental transition from elementary to high school. He researched potential costs for transportation via Sunrise and Southold school busses—costs range from $8900 to $16,000 for one way bus service. To offset costs he suggested possibly considering sliding scale fee. Also consider Senator LaValle for funding assistance as pilot would serve as prevention measure. Referrals would be from school personnel and criteria would be how students would benefit from program (homework help to assist students struggling academically, counseling for students whose parents have problems, etc.) In light of Phillip’s departure and possibility of part-time Youth Bureau director being hired in 2016, pilot should be considered for September 2016 implementation. Report of Summer Activities:  North Fork Ospreys Youth Bureau Night was well-attended.  Family Movie Night in the Park film Wizard of Oz drew over 125 attendees. YAC Liaison: Phillip requested that a member of the Youth Bureau board consider serving as YAC liaison until a YB director replacement is appointed by th the Town Board. This will provide continuity for students—at the September 30 meeting YAC will plan activities for the year. 1 th Next Meeting :October 19 at 5 p.m. at Peconic Lane Community Center. Respectfully Submitted, Phillip Beltz 2
