HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/2015 September 04, 2015 To: Town Board Fr: Phillip Beltz Re: AUGUST 2015 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Housing:  Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated minutes.  With Rona Smith and Beth Motschenbacher of HAC, meeting with Katharine Sanger and architect Bruce Kinlin regarding the Little Houses apartments in Fishers Island.  Approved one resident for CPF tax exemption and denied another who owned vacation property.  Monitor of annual compliance response from residents of the Cottages to ensure that residence is primary and not renting units. Approximately 50% received, will send reminder notices in September.  With Supervisor, meeting with real estate agent and developer to discuss affordable housing.  Review of Permanent Home Improvements policy and discussion with resident of the Cottages who is considering renovations—review of Permanent Home Improvements policy-- Informed him of process and provided form.  Developed database of Cottages Residents 2015 registry with updated contact information.  No housing applications received in August. Youth Bureau  No Youth Bureau or Youth Advisory Council meetings in August.  Facilitated two subcommittee meetings of select Youth Bureau Board members to discuss proposed pilot to provide afterschool programming at Recreation and Peconic Lane Community Center to 30 middle school students from Southold.  Facilitated meeting with Southold youth providers to discuss the development of a regional Youth Asset Map that will serve as a phone application to provide resources for youth on the East End of Long Island.  With Superintendent of Highways, finalized Suffolk County Summer Works program with evaluations for two students.  Coordinated meeting for students to meet with SC Dept. of Labor program evaluators.  With Jeff Standish, facilitated Youth Bureau Family Movie Night in the Park with viewing of Wizard of Oz, approximately 125 attendance.  Finalized SC Youth Bureau and Juvenile Aid Bureau application. Comprehensive Plan:  Attended two Comprehensive Plan team meetings in discussion of land use chapter. Economic Development:  Facilitated Economic Development Committee meeting with agenda preparation and disseminated minutes.  Two subcommittee meetings with North Fork Promotion Council to develop 375 Anniversary event to benefit small businesses. Planning to include historical and heritage institutions to celebrate “Southold Then and Now” for Saturday after Thanksgiving for American Express Small Business Saturday.  Enrolled event for American Express Small Business Saturday—November 28, 2015 that will benefit businesses and collaborate with 375 Committee.  Meeting with Joe O’Byrne, temporary employee of Greenport Village to discuss possible collaborations to benefit cultural and heritage organizations.  With Supervisor, meeting with Anne-Julia Audray, owner of former Southold Methodist Church who is seeking to create Southold Opera Company. Scheduled her to meet with the EDC. Community Development:  Fishers Island meeting with Heidi Kowalchyk and August Ruckdeschel of SC Economic Development-Community Block Grant office and Meg Atkin and Luke Fowler of Friends of Fishers Island Theatre.  With assistance of Town Engineer, prepared abstract to Senator LaValle’s office regarding funding needs for improvements to Fishers Island Theatre. . Executive Safety:  Finalized Workplace Violence Prevention, Right to Know and Bloodborne Pathogens training.  Attended training.  Prepared agenda and attended Executive Safety Committee meeting.  Finalized report of comments regarding workmen’s compensation provider site visit. Other:  Submitted article of “News from Southold Town” for Fishers Island Fog Horn.  Finalized supervision with student intern, Erin Creedon.  Meeting with Lloyd Reisenberg to discuss initiating survey via Survey Monkey to collect information regarding how residents want to be informed.  Review of Survey Monkey responses.  Assisted Lauren Standish with preparation of helicopter meeting at Recreation Center.  Developed Community Notices advertisement for the Suffolk Times for August.  Meeting with Comptroller and Supervisor regarding 2016 budget.  With Supervisor, attended East End Supervisors and Village Mayors meeting.  Meeting with Town Attorney to discuss Special Projects Coordinator positon and its relevance to Town Attorney office, policy and procedures, details of housing legislation, etc.  With Leanne Reilly and Jim McMahon meeting to discuss development of policies and procedures for community service for Town.
