Mattituck Park District held on March 13, 2003 at the Park District office on Main Road,
Mattituck,New York, with all Commissioners present(Gerard Goehringer, Chairman,
Walter Sabat and Jerome Zuhoski),together with Treasurer,John Cushman, Secretary,
Madeline Haas,Jim Cox, Labor Crew Leader, Gail Faircloth, Gate Guard Attendant and
Gail Wickham,Attorney for the Park District. Also present were Kim Prokop,Denise
Goehringer and Andy Mc Gowan.
On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried, the
minutes of the February meeting were approved as presented.
On motion of Walter Sabat, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski and carried, the
Treasurer's report was approved as follows, and the following bills ordered paid:

Gail Wickham entered the meeting. She had received a letter from the Southold
Town Board of Trustees regarding the proposed construction of a building at Veteran's
Memorial Park in Mattituck. The Trustees reviewed the plot plan dated July 1, 1998 and
last revised January 16, 2003 and they determined the proposed activities to be out of the
Wetland jurisdiction under Chapter 97 of the Town Wetland Code and Chapter 37 of the
Town Code. A copy of this letter is on file in the minute book held by the District's
secretary. Ms. Wickham also delivered a copy of the State Environmental Review
NEGATIVE DECLARATION—Notice of Determination Non-Significant dated June 12,
2001 which is also filed in the secretary's minutes.
The Commissioners gave to Ms. Wickham a copy of a survey of the ball field
property located on Peconic Bay Boulevard, Mattituck. The survey was done by Mr.
Bonacci.
SPECIAL USE PERMIT OR APPLICATION—Ms. Wickham and the Board of
Commisioners agreed that liability insurance in the sum of$1,000,000 must accompany
an application for use of Scouters' Lodge. If alcoholic beverages are to be used
(weddings, parties of any kind)the insurance coverage must be $2,000,000.00. If the
application appears to be a children's party where no alcoholic beverages will be served,
they do not need the extra$1,000,000.00 endorsement.
Mr. Andy McGowan and Ms. Denise Goehringer were present for information on
the Little League ball sites and information on what needs to be done to be able to use all
the sites. They need clay loam mixture for the in-fields. Park Commissioners advised
Mr. McGowan to get in touch with Superintendent of Highways,Peter Harris, to see
where the Town gets their mixture from for the Town field in Laurel and what the cost
would be. Mr. McGowan said that the Yacht Club site will be used for the teams using a
pitching machine. In order to do that they would have to move the bases in about three
feet. Commissioners advised Mr. McGowan that this would not be able to be done if the
men's softball teams were still going to use this site. Mr. McGowan said that all sites
would have to be kept cut. Mr. Mc Gowan said Little League season requires all the
above information by March 29,2003.
Kim Prokop,entered the meetingto discuss the Easter Egg Hunt and party at
Veterans' Park site. Kiin.said that the Chamber of Commerce is contributing-tare e•o
towards the cost of said party. On motion of Gerard Goehringer, seconded by Jerome
Zuhoski and carried,the Park will contribute $(s' this year. Gerard Goehringer
made a motion, seconded by Jerome Zuhoski and earned,to buy a bunny costume for the
party not to exceed$380.00. Kim to take care of the party and purchase the bunny suit.
A discussion was had with Kim and the Commissioners regarding parking for the
playground.
Jim Cox asked for 2 part time men for spring cleanup.
Concession does not have to be advertised. Mrs. Diakovasilis bid last year. She
wishes to use the option to renew for 2003 season. Commissioners accepted.

A commercial refrigerator was offered by a Mattituck resident for the concession
stand. Commissioners agreed to accept it but it has to be picked up by a truck for a lift
on it.
Parking lots need to be re-paved at Veterans' Park, Yacht Club and Breakwater
sites. Jerome Zuhoski to call Kevin Romanoski to have him go look at the sites and give
an estimate.
Jim Cox said t13.at spme pilings need to be replaced at Love Lane site. Jim was
instructed to call Mr. i-L4pn Lipco Road.
Jim Cox reported broken piping ou the west end of the Yacht Club ball field.
Lights at Aldrich Lane site. Wire service has to be installed before the lights can
be used. Walter Sabat to check with Mark Sabat regarding same.
No further business to come before the meeting,Gerard Goehringer made a
motion, seconded by Walter Sabat and carried,the meeting was adjourned.
