Mr. and Mrs. McGreevy spoke about the supervision of people using the Lodge.
They are climbing up and down the bank. Mr. McGreevy reported a few week ago two
adults were on the McGreevy property calling down to a group of older boys to climb up.
Mr. McGreevy went out and told the people they were on private property and please
leave. A general discussion was held and Mr. McGreevy suggested putting a map of the
park district beach into the application for Use of the Building .
Greg Fisher spoke about the use of the Lodge for a youth ministry group which
he had asked for previously. He wanted to know if it would be agreeable to have adults
and students at the same time. He was told that it was alright but they could not use
downstairs. They will use the Lodge on Sunday evenings from 7- 10. He said if the
Lodge would not be available because of previous arrangements, he would notify his
group that they would not be at the Lodge.
Gail Wickham brought a copy of a letter she had written to the Fitzgerald's
regarding the Wolf Pit Lake property. She wrote the letter asking them to get in touch
with the Commissioners of the Park District because she has had no luck in getting
through to their attorney. Gail said she would be going to the Southold Town Board of
Trustees meeting. She is doubtful about raising questions on the covenants and
restrictions. The statement was made that the fence does cut off the sledding area.
Mrs. Diakovasilis had a problem with the concesssion. Her insurance agent had
informed her that the liability insurance for the season will be$1600.00. Commissioners
discussed her problem and said her deposit of$412.50 less $35.00 would be returned to
her and she wouldn't have to pay the second half of$412.50. This was done because she
has had the concession for the previous three years and has done a satisfactory job. She
went back to the insurance company and she was informed if she took the concession for
a full year the cost of the liability insurance would be$595.00. Commissioners and Gail
Wickham said as long as the insurance was affordablet her deposit of$412.50 would be
kept by the Distract, but she would not have to pay the second half of$412.50, and she
could have the concession for the full year. The only stipulation they added to the
agreement was that they would not be responsible to supply utilities to the building after
October 1,2003.
Sale of the Park District Main Road Office building was discussed. Several bids
have come in. One is contingent on getting a mortgage for an "as is" purchase. Two
others have come in as all cash purchases. The District has twenty-one days to look into
the cesspool situation.
