Call to Order & Approval of Minutes:  Meeting was called to order and minutes from the September 17, 2013 meeting passed unanimously. Chairman’s Comments:  James Grathwohl discussed some of Anne Surchin’s ideas regarding better public information, particularly making changes to the town’s existing landmark brochures. Anne followed up with some of the recommendations that she had, which included making the brochures more visually stimulating and easier to read, using concise bullet points. Old Business:  Damon Rallis and James Grathwohl updated the commission on Doug Constant’s efforts regarding the mile-marker project in Doug’s absence. James Grathwohl stressed the need to come up with a cohesive plan for the proposed Eagle Scout project. He also noted that Zack Studenroth, of the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Historical Council said that his group was open to doing a new publication featuring the mile markers, and helping to secure grant money for the project.  Damon Rallis updated commissioners regarding the Sacred Heart committee. He explained that the planning department was instrumental in helping the committee come up with alternative plans for the Sacred Heart church property. Damon reported that planners have agreed to put their suggestions in writing in time for the next meeting.  Gary Parker had suggested taking advantage of the current discussion brought up by election coverage and suggested that the commission get the message out regarding the importance of landmark preservation. James Grathwohl agreed to write a letter to the editor and asked all commissioners to send him an email regarding their thoughts on the issue.
