Call to Order & Approval of Minutes:
Meeting was called to order by James Garretson, filling in for James Grathwohl, and minutes
from the December 18, 2012 meeting passed unanimously.
New Business:
Commissioners met with contractor John Olinkewicz and architect David Tosher, regarding
proposed alterations to an existing garage on landmarked property at 2395 Village Lane, in
Orient.
During the pre-submission conference, the men presented preliminary plans for
o
commission review.
Much of the discussion centered on the need for the proposed alterations due to heavy
o
flood damage during Hurricane Sandy.
th
Commissioners agreed to schedule a public hearing on the project for February 19,
o
2013, at 3:30 p.m.
Commissioners reminded the applicants that, in addition to full construction drawings,
o
they would need to submit photographs, window and door specifications and a “cut” of
the garage door at the hearing.
Commissioners briefly discussed the Sacred Heart Church property in Cutchogue and Anne
Surchin brought up the need to “target” historic buildings that may be in danger of being
demolished and mentioned efforts that were made in the Hamptons. James Garretson noted that
the SPLIA update project that the commission started last year was started with that goal in mind.
