Chairman’s Comments –
Jim Grathwohl read a letter from Caroline MacArthur thanking the commission for visiting the
Southold library’s historic yellow house.
Old Business –
Damon Rallis offered an update on proposed alterations to the Rose property, in Orient, Damon told
the group that no official application had been made to the commission. He shared a new memo,
from the Zoning Board of Appeals to the commission, asking for the commission’s input on a
proposal to more the house closer to the King Street. Because no application has been submitted to
the commission, Damon agreed to send a memo, once again, stating that the commission was not
inclined to make any comments at this time.
New Business –
The commission discussed the possibility of hiring an intern to update the SPLIA list in anticipation of
the promotion of SPLIA properties to the town’s landmark registry. It was agreed that Jim would
have an informal discussion with the supervisor regarding this issue.
Damon presented the commission with updated plans drawn by Blake Goble, architect, for the
Payton/Fowler job in Orient. Concerns were expressed about whether or not the building department
would approve the plans as drawn and how that would effect any decisions made by the
commission. Damon agreed to present the plans to Michael Verity for preliminary reaction.
Next Meeting – January 18, 2011 at 3 p.m. in the town hall annex.
