Chairman’s Comments – Jim welcomed Damon back as the committee’s permit coordinator/administrative assistant and noted that no one from the commission had attended this year’s town trip to Fisher’s Island. Old Business – Jim announced to the commission that the Ramones withdrew their application to the town board for the demolition of a landmark structure at 130 Village Lane, Orient. He also announced that the nomination of the Helen Keller house to the town’s landmark register was currently on hold. The commissioners reviewed an application for alterations to the Orient Wharf Company. Although the commissioners agreed that it will likely be an administrative permit, the application was deemed incomplete. Damon agreed to contact the wharf company and get a complete application. Also, Damon agreed to contact David Air regarding a FOIL to view the Wharf Co. application. Larry Jungblut recused himself from this application. In conjunction with discussions regarding the status of CLG, Jim expressed the need to better promote the LPC’s mission through forums, possibly in the fall. Jamie discussed the need to lobby town board members on the issue. Barbara suggested getting community members involved. Ron suggested taking a closer look at the permit process. Ron and Damon agreed to meet next week and take a closer look at the commission’s applications and procedures. New Business – The commissioners reviewed the proposed 2011 budget and agreed to make minor changes to appropriate funds for the upcoming NYS marker project. Jim presented information regarding a proposed garage on the Cutchogue Village Green. The question came up as to whether or not the property was landmarked and if the commission had jurisdiction over the project. Damon will check with the town attorney’s office. Next Meeting – September 21, 2010 at 3 p.m. in the town hall annex.
