HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/2015 August 10, 2015 To: Town Board Fr: Phillip Beltz Re: JULY 2015 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Housing:  Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated minutes.  Assisted resident with CPF tax exemption.  Based on discussion with Town Board and revisions of Suffolk County income, Federal Low HOME rental, etc. amended housing applications and registry instructions for 2015.  Meeting with resident residing in accessory apartment to confirm 2015 income requirements.  Meeting with Supervisor, Town Attorney, Planning Director and Principal Planner regarding code and implications of utilization of waste water treatment systems for affordable housing units.  Receipt of four affordable housing applications, amended Housing Registry. Youth Bureau  Facilitated Youth Bureau Board meeting and disseminated minutes.  Meeting with David Gamberg, Superintendent Southold and Greenport, re discussion of proposed Youth Bureau pilot to provide afterschool programs to 30 middle school students from Southold.  Provided orientation for Suffolk County Summer Works program for two students at Highway Department.  With Jeff Standish, coordinated NF Ospreys “Youth Bureau Night.”  Several meetings for implementation of East End Youth Asset Mapping project. Sent invitations to over 15 youth providers for August meeting.  Meeting Cindy Smith, Family Service League, to discuss mandated community service programs with Southold Town departments.  Procured commitment of $1,000 donation from NY Organ Donor Network for underwriting of Youth Bureau Family Movie Night in the Park. Processed paperwork for movie rental, copyrights and filming.  Review of Family Service League contract.  Began preparation for SC Youth Bureau and Juvenile Aid Bureau application. Comprehensive Plan:  Attended two Comprehensive Plan team meetings in discussion of land use chapter.  Reviewed Economic Development and Recreation chapters. Economic Development:  Facilitated Economic Development Committee meeting with agenda preparation and disseminated minutes.  With several EDC members, tour of facilities of Suffolk County Community College Culinary Arts program and Stony Brook EPCAL food production sites.  Follow-up discussion and submission of additional documentation for SC Downtown Revitalization for renovations to the Fishers Island Theatre.  On behalf of Supervisor and EDC, provided letter of support to Oysterponds Historical Society.  Facilitated Town Board discussion with Pat Snyder of East End Arts Council regarding development of artistic and educational programing at Peconic Land Community Center.  Further discussion with Nate Malinowski of Lighthouse Works to develop “cultural arts tour” for annual Fishers Island trip.  Meeting with Joan Bischoff, North Fork Promotion Council, to discuss development of initiative to benefit businesses and collaborate with 375 Committee. Community Development:  Coordinated meeting for Heidi Kowalchyk and August Ruckdeschel to meet with Meg Atkin and Luke Fowler for site visit of Fishers Island Theatre.  Discussion with resident (Barbara Zaveski) seeking home improvements, referral to North Fork Housing Alliance. . Executive Safety:  Coordinated and finalized schedule for Workplace Violence Prevention, Right to Know training.  Developed and disseminated employee safety survey.  Scheduled Executive Safety Committee meeting for August.  Review of workmen’s compensation provider site visit report, forward to Highway, Solid Waste and DPW for response. Other:  Submitted article of “News from Southold Town” for Fishers Island Fog Horn.  Continued weekly meetings and supervision with student intern, Erin Creedon. Finalized survey about how residents wish to receive information from the Town. Downloaded on Survey Monkey.  Developed Community Notices advertisement for the Suffolk Times for July.  Responded to constituent request via website “Request Tracker.”  Submitted preliminary 2016 budget.
