HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/13/2015Herb Adler, Jr. Chairman 375`h Committee Meeting MINUTES April 13, 2015 6:00 PM Southold Town Hall Board Room Southold Town Hall P O Box 1179 Southold, NY 11958 631-765-1800 Present: Herb Adler, Jr., Walter Jackson, Peggy Murphy, Cork George Maul, Mark Terry, Gail Horton Daniel McCarthy, Gail Horton, Nick Planamento, James Grathwohl, Bob Ghosio Nick: Shopping cart to make purchases and money is ready for the Committee. The town stated we can't sell but members can let everyone know about the web (Organizations they belong to). Donations $10.00 Wholesale is $7.50 and it costs us $5.00. Thiselbees and Sparkling Point Winery want them. Jim: Very Nice and I like the Hamlets. Nick: Yes, Organizations can sell and make money for themselves. Herb: How Much? Nick: about $2.50 per mug, Rich Vandenburg talked about a pint glass. Will reach out to Jen's with Coffee Mugs at the new coffee shop. Herb: So we can ask for money but not make it! Peggy: Do we know where we can get them? Nick: On website, we can have hats and mugs, but not in position to sell. Herb: Book almost done. I put $5,000 done for book. Lawyers said if we work with NF Promotional Council. We have to straighten out money situation. Nick, I had a hard time getting on Southold 375 website. Nick: Mark Standish worked on it and I have no trouble with it. Maybe picture of town for website. Dan: Caroline McCarthy gave historical pictures only wants credit for it. Can send folder of pictures. Nick: Sounds good, (showed everyone website on his phone). Went through items listed on website (Home, Events, Calendar, Etc.) Herb: Invoice for Website? Nick: I will send out invoice. Jim: Have you spoken to Cutchogue High School? Nick: No, not yet. Carol — please e-mail list of event on letterhead and also for visitors Center Gail: maybe can be sexier Nick: Maybe paper brochures or Rack Cards Gail: Print nice pictures on the top. Jim — Landmark Preservation Committee has historic week, can hand out brochures. Wanted historical overview but has not set-up dates yet. Maybe after Labor Day like Southold Banner across top. Then list day of week of event not weekend. Cork: (showed Mile Marker Brochure) tri- fold will check for typos and he went over brochure. Rita at Academy Printing is finishing post cards. Important to charge $5.00 five dollars will need them stamped before event and need to pay for postage. Quote of post cards $70.00 and $350.00 for brochures. Eagle Scout project on hold because of that not sure if they will help out. But need help with brochures, post cards, popcorn and Daniel will need help. NYDOT doesn't claim ownership. Herb: Only talking of those three that need replacing? Jim: How does the brewery owner's son fit in? Cork: Son is one of the scouts working on their Eagle Scout project. Peggy: How much help? Cork: One person with Daniel, three at the beginning, sent letter out to Southold Mother Club but no response yet. Herb: Will talk to ROTC to help. Cork: Daniel will be at Mile Marker 28. Daniel: Good Cork: Still working on Post Card — need wording on back. Peggy: Not a young cadet but can help. Bob: I can help also. Herb: I will do what I can. Peggy and Nick: Congratulations on organizing the event. Nick: Collecting Money. Maybe in a cookie jar. Register at NFPC website. Cork: Not giving out post cards until paid for. One Post card in the beginning and post card at the end. Nick: How about stamp. NFPC must collect money at the beginning Mattituck/Laurel Historical Society or Orient Historical Society is not committee members. Cork: I don't care who collects and where it goes. All semantics Bob: I don't have patience for this but we have to follow rules. Cork: Collect money and donate money to town. Herb: Get someone to do it, Nicks crew can do. Cork: Newsday and Doug Gee will report on the event. Nick and Bob: maybe 500 need to be added to brochures Bob & Daniel: Very Good Job Walter: How is parade going? Peggy: Discussed food and Cutchogue/New Suffolk Historical Society not coming and Stirling no answer. Dan: will be Ben Franklin Meeting adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
