YAC Membership: At least two students are needed from each school in September. Parent University: Attachment provided, SC Youth Bureau would like to sponsor two Parent University trainings—one Eastern and one Western Suffolk. This is targeted towards school personnel and youth providers to assist in building community, reaching parents and providing resources and support. They need place to provide training on East End—Phillip thought that Mattituck may be interested in hosting. North Fork Initiative: The North Fork Alliance hosted a meeting with local service providers to discuss unmet needs of youth within the community. Consensus that a critical need exists for afterschool Youth Center. The Southold Youth Bureau was asked to articulate what elements would ideally exist within a center. Below are items discussed at June meeting:  Program would exist in Town asset such as Recreation Center  Program should provide tutoring and homework help, counseling, recreational activities, mentoring  Must provide transportation  Could offer with a sliding scale fee  Need to determine what ages it would serve  Consider issuing survey to students to see if they would attend and what activities would they like to have (also consider survey for parents)  Visit Southampton Youth Services (SYS) located Major’s Path. Note everyone should review website www.sysinc.org Further discussion of youth center at July Youth Bureau meeting, agreement that initiative should be a pilot for approximately 30 students in the Southold UFSD middle school students as the Peconic Lane Community Center and Recreation Center are in geographical catchment and possibly school can provide 1 transportation. Phillip will discuss with Superintendent David Gamberg and further discuss with a subcommittee consisting of Laura Held, Elaine White, Patty Mellas, Jillian Ruroede and Andrea Nydegger. Summer Activities:  th North Fork Ospreys Youth Bureau Night-Friday July 24 7 p.m. at Cochran Park  th Family Movie Night in the Park-Saturday, August 29 sundown (7:30 p.m.) at Tasker Park—Wizard of Oz Phillip indicated that he will need volunteers to serve popcorn at the events. Bob volunteered to assist with both events and Elaine for the movie night. Let Phillip know if you can volunteer--he will make flyers/posters and Crissy will update the Facebook page. Meeting with Town Board: All Town committees are requested to meet with the Town Board to discuss goals and objectives. The Youth Center initiative would be a good discussion with the Town Board in the near future. Next Meeting :Board decided to skip August and meet in September. Respectfully Submitted, Phillip Beltz 2
