Amendments noted where applicable.] § 7-1. Establishment of committees. [Amended 3-10-1992 by L.L. No. 7-19921 A. The Town Board, by resolution, may establish advisory committees for such purposes as it may deem necessary to assist it in the performance of its duties. B. The term "committee" shall be deemed to be a generic designation and shall also include any group appointed by the Town Board as set forth in Section A above, including but not limited to any advisory counsel, commission, counsel, advisory committee, task force or any other similar nomenclature. § 7-2. Committee members. [Amended 3-10-1992 by L.L. No. 7- 19921 The Town Board shall determine the composition of such committees, including the number of its members. Priority in 701 4-25-92 § 7-2 SOUTHOLD CODE § 7-6 membership shall be first accorded to town residents. Members shall serve without compensation and at the pleasure of the Town Board. § 7-3. Duties. [Amended 3-10-1992 by L.L. No. 7-19921 A. In each instance, the Town Board must designate the purpose for the formation of the committee, its scope and/or task and its duration. • B. Each committee shall be accountable to the Town Board unless otherwise directed. Minutes shall be kept, during each meeting and shall be filed with the Town Clerk within fourteen (14) days of any meeting. § 7-4., Expenses. Committees may incur such. expenses in the performance of their duties as may be appropriated therefor by the Town Board. § 7-5. Effect on statutory provisions. This chapter shall supersede, in its application to the Town of Southold, Subdivision 17 of § 64 of the Town Law. § 7-6. When effective. This chapter shall take effect immediately. 0 702 4-25-92 § 43-1 ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS § 43-2 Chapter 43 ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS § 43-1. Administration. • § 43-2. Designation of Inspectors. § 43-3. Town of Southold 3-14-78 as Local Law No. 1-1978. Amendments noted where applicable.] § 43-1. Administration. This chapter shall be administered and conducted under the supervision of the Building Department of the Town of Southold. The town's Building Inspectors, however, shall at no time be required to conduct electrical inspections nor to perform any of the duties hereinafter assigned to Electrical Inspectors. § 43-2. Designation of Inspectors. [Amended 2-4-1992 by L.L. • No. 4-1992; 3-10-1992 by L.L. No. 5-1992] The Chief Inspector and each of the duly appointed inspectors of the New York Board of Fire Underwriters are hereby designated as Electrical Inspectors of the Town of Southold and are authorized and deputized as agents of the Town of Southold to make inspections and reinspections of all electrical installations heretofore and hereafter described and to approve or disapprove the same. In no event, 4301 4-25-92 § 43-2 SOUTHOLD CODE § 43-3 however, will the cost or expense of such inspections and reinspections be a charge against the Town of Southold. The Town Board may also designate, by resolution, the Chief Inspector and/or each of the duly appointed inspectors of organizations other than the New York Board of Fire Underwriters as Electrical Inspectors and authorize and deputize them as agents of the Town of Southold to make inspections and reinspections of all electrical installations heretofore and hereafter described and to approve or disapprove the same, provided • that said inspection organizations. annually submit proof of insurance in such form and amounts as is deemed satisfactory by the Town Attorney, naming the Town of Southold as an additional insured. § 43-3. Duties of Electrical Inspector. A. It shall be the duty of the Electrical Inspector to report, in writing, to the Building Inspectors, whose duty it shall be to enforce all provisions of this chapter, all violations or deviations from or omissions of the electrical provisions of the Building Code' applicable to the Town of Southold and all local laws, ordinances and the Building Code as referred to in this chapter insofar as any of the same apply to electrical wiring. The Inspector shall make inspections and reinspection of electrical installation in and on properties in the Town of Southold, upon the written request of a Building Inspector of the Town of Southold or as herein ,provided. The Inspector is authorized to make inspection and reinspection leading to the issuance of a certificate of compliance of the New York Board of Fire Underwriters or any other organization duly designated by the Town Board of electrical wiring, installa- tions, devices, appliances and equipment in or on properties within the Town of Southold where a building permit has been issued by the Building Department of the Town of Southold or where a property owner or electrical contractor requests such • an inspection. Application for such inspections are to be made directly to the New York Board of Fire Underwriters or any other organization duly designated by the Town Board. In addition, application for a temporary certificate must be made directly to the New York Board of Fire Underwriters or any I Editor's Note: see Ch. 34, Building Construction. 4302 4-25-92 § 43-3 ELECTRICAL INSPECTIONS § 43-3 other organization duly designated by the Town Board wherever there is a change in electrical service. In the event of an emergency, it is the duty of the Inspector to make electrical inspections upon the oral request of an official or an officer of the Town of Southold. [Amended 2-4-1992 by L.L. It shall be the duty of the Inspector to furnish written reports to the proper officials of the Town of Southold and owners and/or lessees of property where defective electrical installation and equipment are found upon inspection. He shall authorize the issuing of a certificate of compliance when electrical installations and equipment are in con= formity with this chapter. He shall direct that a copy of the certificate of compliance be sent to the Town of Southold to the attention of the Building Inspector.
