Seasonal Occupancy
Upon receipt of an application for a Pre-Existing
Certificate of Occupancy, I made an inspection of buildings
on this property. Accompanied by Mrs. Lewis Edson, I began
this inspection at approximately 3:35 P.M.
Dwelling is a one-story wood framed building constructed
on a cement block foundation and contains a kitchen, living
room, full bathroom, and three bedrooms. A screened, roofed
over porch is attached to south side of building. Heat is
furnished to building from a gas-fired warm air floor furnace
located in floor of living room, approximately centered in
building. Foundation provides a small cellar, balance of
foundation is crawl space. A small metal accessory storage
building is in rear yard area.
The following violations of the Housing Code, Chapter 52,
Code of the Town of Southold, New York, were found:
Gas cooking range
Gas fired hot water heater
Gas fired warm air furnace - no
Article V, Section 52-52 B 2.
shut off valve at units,
Gas fired hot water heater - no pressure relief valve
on unit, Article V, Section 52-53 J 1.
Entr~ - front door, no means of controlling light in
room at point of entry, Article V, Section 52-56 B 2.
Sewage system - no house trap, Article V, Section 52-51 C 1.
Foundation - cement blocks at inside corner of east wall,
excessive openings at joints, deformation of wall,
Article III, Section 52-30 A, B & Section 52-31 A.
Fresh air vent - terminating on exterior, east wall of
foundation requires perferated plate, Article V, Section
52-51 C 8.

Instructions
A. This appJication must be filled in typewriter OR ink, and subraitted in DUPLICA~fE to the Building
Inspector with the following; for new buildings or new use:
1. Final survey of property with accurate location of all buildings, property lines, streets, and
unusual natural or topographic features.
2. Final approval of Health Dept. of water supply and sewerage disposal--(S-9 form or equal).
3. Approval of electrical installation from Board of Fire Underwriters.
4. Commercial buildings, Industrial buildings, Multip!e Residences and similar buildings and
installations, a certificate of Code compliance from the Architect or Engineer responsible for
the building.
5. Submit Planning Board approval of completed site plan requirements where applicable.
B. For existing buildings (prior to April 1957), Non-conforming uses, or buildings and "pre-existing"
land uses:
1. Accurate survey of property showing al! property lines, streets, buildings and unusual natural
or topographic features.
2. Sworn statement of owner or previous owner as to use, occupancy and condition of buildings.
3. Date of any housing code or safety inspect[on of bui!dings or premises, or other pertinent
formation required to prepare a certificate.
C. Fees: 1. Certificate of occupancy $5.00
2. Certificate of occupancy on pre-existing dwelling or land use $5.00
3. Copy of certificate of occupancy $1.00
