Southold (east of Goose Creek Bridge), known as
and referred to herein as "Goose Creek Beach."
(6) Parking area located at the terminus of Mill Road,
and both 'sides south on Mill Road to the
intersection of Second Avenue, Peconic, known and
referred to herein as "Goldsmith's Inlet Beach."

B. The following road end areas are hereby designated as

both sides from the terminus north to intersection
with Skippers Lane.
(2) Lands End Road, Orient, along both sides from the
terminus southerly for a distance of three hundred

(2.1) Youngs Street, Long Island Sound, Orient, from the
guardrail at the terminus south for a distance of five
hundred (500) feet.
(3) Aquaview Road from Rocky Point Road, Long Island

hundred (500) feet, and Rocky Point Road from the
terminus south for a distance of five hundred (500)
feet.
(4) East Gillette Drive, Orient Harbor, East Marion,

§ 92-10 VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC § 92-10
ARTICLE I
General Provisions
§ 92-10. Definitions of words and phrases.
A. The words and phrases used in this chapter shall, for the
purpose of this chapter, have the meanings respectively
• ascribed to them by Article I of the Vehicle and Traffic
Law of the State of New York.
B. The following words and phrases, which are not defined
by Article 1 of the Vehicle and Traffic Law of the State of
New York, shall have the meanings respectively ascribed
to them in this section for the purposes of this chapter:

ARTICLE V
Emergency Removal of Vehicles
§ 92-50. Authority to remove vehicles.
When any vehicle is parked or abandoned on any highway
during a snowstorm, flood, fire or other public emergency which
• affects that portion of the public highway upon which said
vehicle is parked or abandoned, or when any vehicle is found
unattended on any highway where said vehicle constitutes an
obstruction to traffic, or when any vehicle is parked or
abandoned on any highway where stopping, standing or
parking is prohibited, said vehicle may be removed or caused to
be removed by a police officer.
§ 92-51. Storage and charges. [Amended 9-21-1982 by L.L.
No. 7-1982; 6-19-1990 by L.L. No. 12-1990;
9-144999 by L.L. No. 8-19991
After removal of any vehicle as provided in this article or the
removal, seizure, storage and/or impoundment of any vehicle
pursuant to any other provision of law, the police officer may
store or cause such vehicle to be stored in a suitable place at the
expense of the owner. Such owner or person in charge of the
vehicle may redeem the same upon payment to the Southold
Town Police Department of the amount of all expenses actually
and necessarily incurred in effecting such removal. The
expenses, charges and costs associated with such removal are
set by resolution of the Town Board of the Town of Southold.
Such resolution shall be posted at the Police Department and
the Town Clerk's bulletin board.
• § 92-52. Notice of removal.
The Southold Town Police Department shall ascertain, to the
extent possible, the owner or person in charge of such vehicle
and notify him of the removal and disposition of such vehicle
and of the amount which will be required to redeem the same.

Penalties
§ 92-60. Penalties for offenses. [Amended 5-13-1997 by
L.L. No. 10-19971
A. Every person convicted of a traffic infraction for a
violation of any provision of this chapter which is not a •
violation of any provision of the Vehicle and Traffic Law
of the State of New York shall, for a first conviction
thereof, be punished by a fine of not more than $50 or by
imprisonment for not more than 15 days, or by both such
fine and imprisonment; for a second such conviction
within 18 months thereafter, such person shall be
punished by a fine of not more than $100 or by
imprisonment for not more than 45 days, or by both such
fine and imprisonment; upon a third or subsequent
conviction within 18 months after the first conviction,
such person shall be punished by a fine of not more than
$250 or by imprisonment for not more than 90 days, or
by both such fine and imprisonment.
B. All persons cited on a town parking summons for a
violation of this chapter, permit parking or parking
related violations shall be subject to a fine of $35 and
shall answer and/or appear on or before the designated
return date. Persons failing to appear on or before the
designated return date shall be subject to the following
surcharges in addition to the prescribed fines:
(1) For failing to answer and/or appear within three
months of the return date: $20.
(2) For failing to answer and/or appear within six
months of the return date: an additional $20 in
addition to the surcharge imposed in Subsection
B(1) above.

ARTICLE VII
Truck Traffic
§ 92-61. Restricted truck traffic. [Added 6-20-2000 by L.L.
No. 14-20001
A. Purpose. The Town Board of the Town of Southold finds
• that, with the increasing development and population of
the Town of Southold, transportation activities are
increasing and impacting the local streets. Regulation of
truck usage on local streets is necessary so as to provide
for the safety and welfare of the town's citizens and for
the orderly flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on
busy local streets. There are numerous other alternate
local streets linking state and county highways in the
area.

B. Trucks, tractors, tractor -trailer combinations, tractor -
semitrailer combinations or tractor -trailer -semitrailer
combinations in excess of a registered weight of 10,000
pounds are prohibited from traveling upon the following
streets. Such exclusion shall not be construed to prevent
the delivery or pickup of merchandise or other property
along the streets from which such vehicles or
combinations are otherwise excluded:
