HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/2015 July 09, 2015 To: Town Board Fr: Phillip Beltz Re: JUNE 2015 SUMMARY REPORT-SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR Housing:  Facilitated Housing Advisory Commission (HAC) meeting and disseminated minutes.  Meeting with newly elected HAC chair and co-chair, Rona Smith and Beth Motschenbacher, to discuss Town Board discussion in July.  Meeting with two residents seeking affordable housing, one for rental apartment and one for homeownership.  With Supervisor, meeting with development team regarding potential site for affordable apartments in Southold hamlet.  Amended Housing Registry. Youth Bureau  Facilitated Youth Bureau Board meeting and disseminated minutes.  Meeting with Youth Advisory Council (YAC) members, celebrated end of school year with pizza party.  Finalized participation of Suffolk County Summer Works program, interviewed students at their prospective schools, completed necessary paperwork and reviewed with SC Dept. of Labor representatives. Two students will participate at Highway Department.  Attended meeting facilitated by North Fork Alliance regarding most pressing unmet needs of youth. Consensus that engagement/drop in center for youth with after school activities (recreation, mentoring, counseling, etc.) most needed resource.  Attended two meetings of East End Partnership for Youth to discuss implementation of Community Asset Mapping project.  Facilitated $1,000 donation from NY Organ Donor Network for underwriting of Youth Bureau Family Movie Night in the Park. Comprehensive Plan:  Review of Housing chapter in preparation of correspondence with Sean Dugan of Kinlin Rutherford for Fishers Island Little Houses request for change of zone to AHD.  Review of Recreation chapter in preparation of meeting with Pat Snyder of East End Arts Council who will meet with Town Board in July to discuss cultural educational programing at Peconic Lane Community Center. Economic Development:  Facilitated Economic Development Committee meeting (agenda preparation) and disseminated minutes.  Continued with development of workshop on growing businesses with local food sources.  Finalized submission of grant funding for SC Downtown Revitalization for renovations and improvements to the Fishers Island Theatre.  Two meetings with Pat Snyder of East End Arts Council regarding development of artistic and educational programing at Peconic Land Community Center.  Discussion with Nate Malinowski of Lighthouse Works to develop “cultural arts tour” for annual Fishers Island trip. Community Development:  Follow-up regarding change of zone (AHD) for “Little Houses” apartments on Fishers Island.  Follow-up meeting with Jeff Standish, Nancy Foote and Karen McLaughlin to review status of pending CDBG projects for Town (Peconic Lane/Recreation Center connectivity, portable ramps for Human Resource Center and installation of showers for Peconic Lane Community Center.)  Follow-up with North Fork Housing Alliance regarding spending funds. . Executive Safety: th  Facilitated June 16 site visit with Workmen’s Compensation provider, Wright Insurance.  Finalized response to Gladfelter Public Practice regarding site visit of Town facilities to assess potential liabilities of the public in Town facilities.  Meeting with Jeff Standish and Nancy Foote regarding pricing of defibrillators and first-aid kits. Other:  Submitted article of “News from Southold Town” for Fishers Island Fog Horn.  With Supervisor, attended East End Supervisors and Village Mayors Association meeting.  Weekly meetings with student intern, Erin Creedon.  Developing Community Notices advertisement for the Suffolk Times for July (not June.)  Responded to three constituent requests via website “Request Tracker.”  Attended two day Family Service League Crisis Intervention training.  Attended pre-retirement workshop facilitated by Massachusetts Mutual and Roy Reeve.  Meeting of website committee to develop recommendations for website for the New Year (2016.)
