HomeMy WebLinkAboutSC Summer works programRESOLUTION 2015-602 ADOPTED DOC ID: 10975 THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION NO. 2015-602 WAS ADOPTED AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE SOUTHOLD TOWN BOARD ON JUNE 30, 2015: RESOLVED that the Town Board of the Town of Southold hereby ratifies and approves the Memorandum of Agreement between the Town of Southold and the CSEA dated June 24, 2015, concerning utilization of the Suffolk County Department of Labor Summer Works Program. Local 1000, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Southold Unit 8785 ("CSEA") and the Town of Southold ("Town"). 1. The work performed by the Suffolk County Department of Labor - Works Program participants from July 6, 2015 through August 21, 2015 as a Senior Aide, two (2) Building and Maintenance Aides, two (2) Highway Department Laborers, and one (1) Town Clerk Clerical Aide in accordance with the attached job descriptions shall not be used in any proceeding, hearing or forum whatsoever as evidence of a breach of CSEA's exclusivity of work. 2. This Agreement shall not be construed as an acknowledgement by the Town that CSEA has exclusivity of the work at issue. 3. This Agreement shall not be construed as an acknowledgement by the CSEA that it does not have exclusivity of the work at issue. 4. This Agreement represents the totality of the parties' agreements regarding this Program. There are no other agreements, oral or otherwise. FOR TH TOWN: William M. Thomas Skabry CSEA Union President SUFFOLK COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF LABOR SUMMER WORKS PROGRAM 2015 Town of Southold Opportunities: • One Senior Aide: Greet seniors as they arrive at Senior Center. Through social interactions, playing games and dining, become aware of aging process and issues important to the elderly. • Two Building and Maintenance Aides: Assist Department of Public Works staff to learn about building maintenance and repair as well as keeping of grounds at Town buildings, parks and beaches. • Two Highway Department Laborers: Assist the Highway Department with yard maintenance, organizing and cleaning the Highway buildings. All work will be done on Highway Building property. • One Town Clerk Clerical Aide: Assist with office clerical work such as filing, shredding documents, computer indexing of files, etc. in Town Clerk office and Records Management office. The above positions are funded through Suffolk County Department of Labor and participants work for seven weeks from July 06, 2015 until August 21, 2015. Participants earn $8.75 per hour and cannot work greater than 25 hours a week. To qualify for the program, the participant's household must meet income guidelines (reduced or free lunch, etc.) ,- /-I-X// 5 Wa,�.1�. LL
