5. Evidence of Structural Modifications (if any): -None, Intact.
6. Notes:
-Excellent integrity, Second Empire style house with Mansard roof, this is a
fine example of a compound-plan asymmetrical subtypes; in this case an L-
shaped plan, which comprises only 20% of examples of Second Empire
architecture. Building is significant locally in that it was constructed by
Ira Tuthill, who was the designer of the grid plan for the Hamlet of New
Suffolk, and also because the building is made from Robin’s Island Brick; thus
this is a substantial vernacular and styled structure composed of locally
procured raw materials. House is set back from the road, thus the viewshed is
partially obscured by a row of maples along the driveway.
