date on Southold Town Landmarks plaque on front of house: 1703).

4. Current Status of Historic Building(s) or Place(s): -Extant
5. Evidence of Structural Modifications: -Minor; porch screen added to east
wing, and few windows in north facade have been covered/boarded up with
shutters.
6. Notes: -Excellent example of Cape Cod style house, considered to be oldest
structure in Laurel. Plaque on facade states: “Cleaves-Keuster House, Circa
1703, Built for Captain John Cleaves, Veteran of the Pequot Wars, Great
Grandfather of Anna Symmes, wife of President William Henry Harrison,
grandmother of president Benjamin Harrison.”
