Notes: -Seventeenth century “Fort Corchaug” is a National Historic Landmark site and served multiple functions to the historic Corchaug tribe, but primarily it served as a wampum bead production, storage, and trading facility. Despite the forts poorly defendable geographic position, the structure likely served as a defensive structure during the Pequot War and afterwards. One of the most important archaeological and historic sites in Northeastern United States; contributes significantly to historic landscape of Cutchogue. View is north of northeastern portion of Fort embankment. 3 CU-61 View is northeast of wampum shell making debris (Quahog/Whelk) and quartz flake at surface of northeastern bastion of Fort Corchaug.
