4. Current Status of Historic Building(s) or Place(s): -Extant
5. Evidence of Structural Modifications (if any):
-Turn of the century wrap-around porch removed, although this modification
augments the historic integrity of this structure. Louvered shutters were
removed from side elevation, but are extant on facade.
6. Notes: -An fine example of a colonial-era vernacular farm house that
incorporated decorative elements from different architectural traditions; for
example Georgian bracket/modillions under eaves, Greek Revival door surround,
and a louvered entrance door. Significant locally and regionally this house
is associated with Barnabas Tuthill, a veteran of the French and Indian War.
Original survey form also notes this part of Cutchogue as being called
“Blubber Row,” named so for the number of retired ship captains.
