5. Evidence of Structural Modifications: -None, Intact.
6. Notes: -Well-maintained, early burying ground with some of the oldest known
gravestones in New York State, contributes significantly to the historic
viewshed and landscape of Orient. Note the gravestone for Gideon Youngs, dated
to 1699 (see second image below) is cited in original S.P.L.I.A. survey. OR-9
is significantly the only cemetery to contain soul effigies on gravestones
from John Stevens I, a noted Colonial Era gravestone cutter from Newport,
Rhode Island. Interestingly this quiet hollow contains most of the know
gravestone styles, from Deaths Heads to Cherubs, of the entire Colonial Era.
