SUBJECT: Permit Application Number NAN-2015-00553-EYR By Mary Van Cott The New York District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has received a request for Department of the Army authorization for the following activity: APPLICANT: Mary Van Cott 33 Winslow Circle Tuckahoe, NY 10707 ACTIVITY: Construct one 6-foot long by 4-foot wide timber platform cantilevered off of the existing bulkhead; and one 14-foot long by 3- foot wide ramp leading to one 20-foot long by 6-foot wide pile- supported float. The total length of the fixed and floating pier structure will extend approximately 8-linear feet from the existing bulkhead into Wunneweta Pond. The purpose of this project is to provide access to Wunneweta Pond and Great Peconic Bay for recreational boating and dockage. WATERWAY: Wunneweta Pond of Great Peconic Bay LOCATION: 4080 Wunneweta Road, Village of Cutchogue, Town of Southold, Suffolk County, NY As this is minor in nature, authorization may be by Letter of Permission. The purpose of the project is to improve and enhance the owner's ability to access her vessel, which is presently accessed with difficulty from the top of the bulkhead, especially during lower tidal stages. The float and, platform will be constructed with untreated wood decking; the proposed platform will be cantilivered off the bulkhead and thus will not physically impact the bottom; and the floating dock, which will be situated in deep water even at lower low tide, will not be located over or physically impact any vegetated wetlands or SAV. The project will have no impacts on navigation or public access and no impacts on the quality or function of the surrounding ecosystem, including fish, wildlife, and plant species.
