The maximum ground disturbance is estimated to be about 38 feet wide centered along the pipe alignment, where the excavation is about 19 feet deep. Item 2: Pipe Bedding Zone We note that the pipe zone compaction referred to as "good" shall be a minimum of 90% of the Maximum Dry Density (MDD) value per ASTM D 1557. 3. Item 3: Pipe Backfill Backfill above the pipe zone shall be relatively firm without excessive yielding as determined by the Engineer. No compaction specification is contemplated. Compaction will be monitored visually by the Engineer and must be reasonable based on using a bulldozer or excavator bucket for the compactive effort. The number of passes of the bulldozer or tamping cycles with the excavator will need to be determined in the field. The excavation will be slightly mounded to accommodate settlement. ' - 4:'' 'Additional Items: a. tandf l -gas monitoring will need to be performed in the excavation under conditions in compliance with OSHA regulations. b. Any clean concrete or other rubble encountered from the old gas control trenches shall be deposited at the base of the landfill borrow pit area as part of reclamation as directed by the Engineer.
