Howell TOWN QF SOUTHOLD LANDFILL CLOSURE MINUTES OF AUGUST 22, 2002 PROGRESS MEETING Affiliation Town of Southold Dvirka and Bartilucci Consulting Engineers Terry Contracting & Materials, Inc. 1. Minutes of Previous (August 15, 2002) Meeting Not received in time for this meeting. 2. status of Submittals .2003/008 Tim Howell said he is awaiting a response from D&B regarding his submittal on the erosion control fabric. 3. Status of Stand scree ing and Testing Sand screening continues on the 17 -acre parcel, although not for the past two days due to a problen-A with the power screener. 4. Status of Soil Test Results and Resolution of Three Gas Vent Laver Saa'ales All sampling is up to date according to Tim Howell. Tim recently has taken BPL and VG -L samples and laboratory results should be received by next week. 0 1s14n092222e1 (P.01) I 08127,'2002 TUE 08;54 FAX Z004/008 5, Discussion with Ed Wankel Regarding Seed_Mixtwe The seed mix of 60% rescue and 40% Perennial Rye, submitted to D&B by Terry, has been approved verbally by Prank DeVita. A follow-up call to Ed Wankel was made by Jim Mulligan again requesting a letter from Ed confirming this seed mix recommendation by him. Ed indicated the letter would be sent to Tom Maher shortly. f. Daily Schedule of Work for Next 2 Weeks See Item. No. 13. 7. Status of Construction on 17 -,Acre Parcel Terzy continues to excavate and screen sand and is building the shelf along the westerly property line. Extending the RCA pad southerly cannot be done until George Desmaris of H2M gives Terry the location of the P'V'C drainage lines and catch basins. Jun Bunchuck will call George to get this information electronically forwarded to Terry's surveyor, llld ean, so that the drainage can be staked. The goal by Terry is to install the PVC pipe and extend the RCA pad neat week. 8. Schedule for Completion of the Permanent Road and'Removal of the Te=oramv Road to 17 acres The temporary road has been removed and completion of the perm wient road will take place in several weeks once the liner and CUM have been placed to the north of the permanent road. 9. Design of Primary Road on to 17 -Acre Parcel and Status of Constructs n of Secondary Road Jim Bunchuck said that H2M is to have the road design completed by tomorrow. Status of Completion and Vesting of Cxas Monitoring Wells AlongSouthwestern Boundary Jim Mulligan said that the four wells will be tested either this afternoon or tomorrow. 11. Proposal for Plantings AlMg Southern Boundary Z005/008 Much discussion took place regarding these plantings. Tim Howell will summarize and submit a ;avritten proposal, including costs, in the near future. Some of the ideas discussed areas follows: Q Plant jVborvitae along southern property Hine by residents (near permanent road and Recharge Basin 01). Also plant several white pines in this area. o Plant cedar bushes along property line by now recharge basin on 17 -acre parcel and along northern portion of westerly property line on 17 -acre parcel. a Stone wall and plantings in area of start of permanent road to 17 -acre parcel. * Wild flower seeds added to Fescue and rye seed at least on southern portion of east half of landfill that will be highly visible. m Install black vinyl chain link fencing, in lieu of galvanized chain link, along southerly property line by residents. (Will cost more than galvanized fence.) 12. Abandonment of Existing Landfill Well Cassola Well Drillers filled 93 feet of the 10 -inch steel casing with bentonite grout on Monday, August 19, 2002. Revised Construction Schedule 2006/008 Tina Howell submitted a revised construction sehedule dated August 23, 2002, which shows Tern, still completing the substantial work by November 1, 2002.
